Abstract.
This article explores innovative methods for analyzing Abay
Kunonbayev's poetry. Along with traditional methods of literary analysis,
modern technologies are used, including corpus linguistics, cognitive and
psycholinguistic approaches, intertextual and semiotic analysis, artificial
intelligence, and computer stylometry. The results of the study show that
innovative methods allow for a more in-depth analysis of the artistic and
philosophical features of Abay's poetry. These approaches serve to reveal the
spiritual, social, and moral aspects of Abay's work in a broader sense.

Abay Kunanbayev, also known as Abay, is a prominent Kazakh poet and
philosopher whose works are highly regarded in Kazakhstan and beyond. His
poetry is known for its deep philosophical insights, intricate use of language,
and profound meditations on the nature of human existence. In order to better
understand and appreciate Abay’s poetry, scholars have developed innovative
methods of analysis to uncover the hidden meanings and themes beneath the
surface. One innovative method of analyzing Abay’s poetry is through a

linguistic approach. By examining the linguistic features of his poems, such as
word choice, sentence structure, and syntax, scholars can gain insight into the
underlying themes and messages of his work. For example, analyzing the use of
metaphor and symbolism in Abay’s poetry can reveal his thoughts on love,
nature, and the human condition.
Another method of analyzing Abay’s poetry is through a comparative
analysis with other poets and literary traditions. By comparing Abay’s work
with the works of other poets, both Western and Eastern, scholars can identify
the unique qualities and influences that shape his poetry. For example,
comparing Abay’s use of nature imagery with that of William Wordsworth or
Matsuo Basho can shed light on his views on the natural world. In addition to
linguistic and comparative analysis, scholars have also employed
psychoanalytic approaches to analyze Abay’s poetry. By examining the
unconscious motivations and desires that drive his poetic expression, scholars
can uncover the psychological conflicts and tensions that underlie his work. For
example, exploring the role of the Oedipus complex in Abay’s poetry can offer
insight into his complex relationship with authority figures and social norms.
Modern linguistic research expands the possibilities of in-depth study of
Abay's poetry. Through computational linguistics and corpus analysis, it is
possible to study the statistical and structural features of Abay's works.
Analyses performed on the basis of corpus linguistics:
Lexical-semantic analysis - identifying the most frequently used words and
their semantic fields in Abay's poetry. For example, analyzing the use of
concepts such as "science", "intelligence", "will", "morality".
Morpho-syntactic analysis - identifying the grammatical features of the
poetic structure, studying repetitive structures in Abay's poetics.
Statistical analysis of poetic style - analyzing poetic features such as rhyme,
rhythm, alliteration.
This method reveals the traditional and innovative aspects of Abay's
poetics on a scientific basis. Furthermore, cultural studies offer an innovative
method of analyzing Abay’s poetry. By situating his work within the historical
and cultural context of 19th-century Kazakhstan, scholars can unravel the
social, political, and religious influences that inform his poetry. For example,
studying the impact of Russian colonialism on Abay’s poetry can illuminate his
attitudes towards power, identity, and resistance. Another innovative method
of analyzing Abay’s poetry is through a gender studies lens. By exploring the
representation of gender roles and relationships in his poems, scholars can

uncover the ways in which Abay challenges or perpetuates traditional gender
norms. For example, analyzing the portrayal of women in Abay’s poetry can
reveal his attitudes towards femininity, sexuality, and social hierarchies.
Abay's work is nourished by various sources, and his works are influenced
by Western and Eastern literature. He translated the works of the classics of
Russian literature - Pushkin, Lermontov, Krylov, and was inspired by their
work. Intertextual analysis helps to determine:
-The harmony of Russian and Eastern literary traditions in Abay's poetry.
-The influence of Eastern thinkers such as Navoi and Fuzuli on Abay's
work.
-The degree of connection with the original work in Abay's translations
and the changes in his individual poetic style.
This approach allows for a deeper understanding of how Abay's work
developed in a cultural and historical context. In addition to linguistic,
comparative, psychoanalytic, cultural, and gender studies approaches, scholars
have also used formalist methods to analyze Abay’s poetry. By focusing on the
formal elements of his poems, such as rhyme, meter, and structure, scholars can
gain insight into the aesthetic principles and techniques that shape his work.
For example, analyzing the use of repetition and parallelism in Abay’s poetry
can reveal his emphasis on rhythm and musicality. One innovative method of
analyzing Abay’s poetry is through a postcolonial perspective. By examining the
ways in which his poetry challenges or subverts dominant narratives of power
and authority, scholars can uncover the ways in which he resists or critiques
colonial ideologies. For example, analyzing the representation of the Kazakh
landscape in Abay’s poetry can reveal his efforts to assert the cultural and
political autonomy of his people.
Another method of analyzing Abay’s poetry is through a reader-response
approach. By exploring the ways in which readers interpret and respond to his
poems, scholars can gain insight into the diverse ways in which his work is
understood and appreciated. For example, analyzing the reception of Abay’s
poetry in different time periods and cultural contexts can shed light on the ever-
evolving meanings and significance of his work.
In conclusion, Abay Kunanbayev’s poetry offers a rich and complex terrain
for analysis, interpretation, and appreciation. Through innovative methods of
analysis, scholars can uncover the hidden meanings, themes, and influences that
shape his work. Whether through linguistic, comparative, psychoanalytic,
cultural, gender studies, formalist, postcolonial, or reader-response approaches,

the study of Abay’s poetry continues to reveal new insights and discoveries that
deepen our understanding of this seminal figure in Kazakh literature. Abay
Kunanbayev's work is a unique heritage that needs to be studied in various
areas of literature, philosophy and linguistics. His poetry is being analyzed in
more depth using modern innovative analytical methods - digital literary
studies, artificial intelligence, intertextual and semiotic approaches. In the
future, a more comprehensive study of Abay's poetry using innovative methods
will open up new horizons in understanding and researching his artistic
heritage. Therefore, the widespread use of modern technologies in the field of
literary studies creates great opportunities not only for the study of Abay's
work, but also for the study of Turkic literature as a whole.
