Relevance:
The medical literature describes the most characteristic variants of developmental
disorders in children with autism spectrum disorders, which reflect difficulties in the formation of the
main mechanisms of affective activity of behavior and consciousness (Avdeeva NN Features of maternal
attitudes and attachment of the child to the mother // Psychological Science and Education. M.: MGPPU.
- 2006. - No. 2 - P. 82-92). There is also evidence of the presence of the first signs of disorders on the
part of affective activity, which makes it possible to predict the likelihood of autistic development before
the manifestation of the syndrome in full, as well as certain combinations of these signs that make it
possible to predict the formation of a certain type of syndrome (Baenskaya E.R. in the formation of the
syndrome of early childhood autism // Defectology. -2008.-
№
4.-
С
. 11-19.)
Objective of the study:
to study the formation of cognitive impairments in children with autism
spectrum disorders.
Materials and methods:
in the course of the work, 45 children with autistic disorders at the age from
5 to 13 years were examined. The study used clinical-psychopathological, clinical- follow-up methods
of research.
Results:
One of the more variable diagnostic criteria of the main group is the ability to establish eye
contact, which was found in almost all children from 5 to 7 years old, and by the age of 13 this sign was
violated in almost 65%. Violation of the formation of speech in the form of a delay was observed in
children with autism in the group from 5-7 years old in 82, 7% of cases. By the age of 13, speech
deficiency was expressed in almost half of the children. At the age of up to 10 years, the stereotyped
speech function was detected in 65.4% of children. In the course of the autistic process, the following
picture was observed in children: the nonprogressive course was 52.3% of cases.
Conclusions:
Based on the data obtained, we can conclude about a low level of social adaptation of
children with autism spectrum disorders at the time of seeking help, due to the severity of clinical
manifestations. Of the communicative impairments, impairments in speech function were observed.
Thus, based on the results obtained, it can be assumed that behavioral disorders, expressed in
communication disorders, decrease with age.
