INTRODUCTION
In today’s interconnected world, the ability to communicate effectively in English is
more crucial than ever. English speaking competence is not merely about linguistic
accuracy; it encompasses fluency, pronunciation, and the ability to convey ideas clearly
and confidently. However, many students face challenges in developing these skills due to
traditional teaching methodologies that emphasize rote memorization over active
communication.
To address these challenges, educators must adopt innovative strategies that
promote student engagement and provide ample practice opportunities. This article
explores several effective methodologies for enhancing English-speaking competence
among students. By incorporating interactive learning, utilizing technology, and
promoting experiential learning, teachers can create a dynamic classroom environment
that encourages students to develop their speaking skills. The goal is to equip students
with the tools they need to communicate effectively in both academic and real-world
contexts.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Numerous studies highlight the significance of active participation in language
learning. Interactive learning environments have been shown to foster greater student
engagement and improve speaking skills (Brown, 2001; Littlewood, 2004). Moreover,
technology integration, particularly through digital platforms and multimedia resources,
enhances students' exposure to authentic language use and provides opportunities for
real-time feedback (Godwin-Jones, 2011). Experiential learning, including role-playing
and simulations, also allows students to practice language skills in meaningful contexts,
thereby increasing confidence and competence (Kolb, 1984).
RESEARCH METHODS
This study employed a qualitative research design, utilizing observations and
interviews with English language instructors across various educational institutions. Data
were collected from 50 teachers who implemented diverse strategies to enhance students’
speaking competence. Thematic analysis was used to identify common practices and the
perceived effectiveness of these methodologies.

The research objectives are to identify effective strategies for improving students'
English-speaking competence, evaluate the role of interactive and experiential learning in
language acquisition, and assess the impact of technology on enhancing speaking skills.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
The research revealed several effective strategies for improving students' speaking
competence. First, interactive learning activities, such as group discussions and debates,
were highlighted as particularly beneficial. These activities encourage students to engage
with their peers, promoting collaborative learning and building confidence in their
speaking abilities.
Second, the integration of technology, including language learning apps and video
conferencing tools, allows for more flexible and diverse learning experiences. Educators
noted that online platforms facilitated communication with native speakers, enhancing
students' exposure to authentic language use.
Lastly, experiential learning methods, such as role-playing and real-life simulations,
were found to significantly boost students’ confidence and ability to communicate
effectively. Teachers emphasized the importance of creating a safe and supportive
environment where students feel comfortable practicing their speaking skills without fear
of judgment.
CONCLUSION
Improving students' English-speaking competence requires a multifaceted
approach that incorporates interactive learning, technology integration, and experiential
methodologies. These strategies foster engagement, provide real-world context, and
enhance students' confidence in their speaking abilities. Educators are encouraged to
implement these practices to create a dynamic learning environment that prioritizes
communication. Future research should explore the long-term effects of these
methodologies on students' overall language proficiency and the potential for cross-
cultural communication in diverse educational settings.
