In the current era of globalization and technology, the main task facing the education system is
to educate competitive, knowledgeable, enterprising and socially active individuals. In this
process, the teacher is considered the main driving force. The teacher's level of knowledge,
professional skills and ability to correctly choose a pedagogical approach directly affect the
quality of education.
In the modern education system, the teacher is an important person who performs many tasks,
such as increasing the activity of students, developing independent thinking, creative approach,
life skills, and directing them to acquire knowledge based on modern technologies. Although
the student is now at the center of the educational process, the role of the teacher as a guiding,
controlling and driving force to this center has not lost its importance.
A modern teacher is seen not only as a source of knowledge, but also as a facilitator (guide to
education), mentor (guide), motivator (inspirer) and evaluator. He strives to instill in students a
system of values that serve to self-understanding, to form a sense of responsibility in them,
and to be useful to society.
One of the important changes in current pedagogy is the orientation of education to the
individual. This requires the teacher not only to know his subject, but also to take into account
the individual characteristics of each student, to choose approaches that are appropriate for the
individual, and to develop a culture of communication. From this point of view, the teacher is
the main subject of modern education.

Modern pedagogical approaches require the teacher to constantly master methodological
innovations, use digital tools, and introduce interactive methods in lessons. In particular:
In the constructivist approach, the teacher does not give the student knowledge in a ready-made
form, but creates an opportunity for the student to independently search for, experience and
understand this knowledge. In this process, the teacher plays a more guiding role.
Lessons organized on the basis of an interactive approach activate the student's participation in
the process of acquiring knowledge. In this type of lessons, methods such as problem situations,
"brainstorming", "exchange of ideas", "group work", "role-playing" are used.
In the competency-based approach, education is not limited to theoretical knowledge, but is
aimed at forming skills and competencies in students that are useful in everyday life. In this
process, the teacher develops the knowledge, skills and qualifications of students through
methodologically well-prepared tasks based on real-life situations.
Today, the professional skills of a teacher are not only related to knowledge of his subject, but
also to didactic, technological, communicative and moral culture. A teacher must have the
following competencies in his work:
Pedagogical competence - organizing a lesson, understanding and assessing the student,
choosing approaches;
Technological competence - using ICT tools, introducing digital educational resources;
Methodological competence - planning a lesson, using educational technologies;
Communicative competence - entering into effective communication with students, parents
and colleagues;
Social and cultural competence - demonstrating commitment to national and universal
values, setting an example of moral qualities.
In addition, a teacher must be a person who constantly works on himself to ensure the quality of
education. Continuous professional development, learning best practices, and conducting
scientific and creative research are essential characteristics of a modern teacher.
Also, the widespread introduction of online and hybrid forms of education after the pandemic
has required strengthening the technological competence of the teacher. These changes
encourage the teacher to adapt to organizing lessons in a new environment, using new tools. In
particular, working with digital pedagogy and electronic resources has become part of the daily
activities of every teacher today.
Conclusion
The modern education system is improving in line with socio-economic and technological
changes. These changes, first of all, require the teacher to think in a new way, adapt
pedagogical approaches, and actively use modern tools and technologies. As noted in the article,
the teacher is not only a provider of knowledge, but also a multifaceted person who performs

educational, psychological and communicative functions. In particular, the implementation of
constructivist, interactive and competency-based approaches in practice serves to form in
students the skills of independence, critical thinking, responsibility and active participation in
society.
Today, a teacher is expected not only to have in-depth knowledge of his subject, but also to be
able to use digital technologies, combine pedagogical methods, and organize education taking
into account the individual characteristics of each student. At the same time, the professional
competencies of the teacher — pedagogical, methodological, technological, communicative,
and moral perfection — are among the important factors determining the quality and
effectiveness of education.
