INTRODUCTION

In today’s era of globalization, developing communicative competence in the military sphere

has become one of the key tasks. In particular, mastering military terminology is not only

essential for specialized subjects but also requires terminological literacy in both foreign and

native languages. From this perspective, the use of innovative approaches in teaching military

terminology is increasingly relevant.
In the 21st century, the demand for modern methods and technologies in military education has

grown significantly. Traditional approaches may no longer yield sufficient results when it

comes to teaching military terms effectively. In this regard, innovative approaches—such as

new pedagogical technologies, interactive tools, information and communication technologies

(ICT), gamification, and multimodal learning systems—are considered critical factors.

This article is devoted to the discussion of such innovative methods in the context of military

education. Military terminology is often complex and enriched with loanwords from foreign

languages, making it necessary to adopt novel methodological approaches for its effective

instruction. Innovative methods stimulate learners (cadets, military personnel) to actively

engage in the learning process, help them apply knowledge in practice, and enhance their

communicative competence. For example: Creating virtual glossaries of military terms through

electronic platforms;
Reinforcing knowledge via interactive tests and simulations;
Increasing motivation through gamification (e.g., using reward systems like the “Rank Up”

program);
Enabling independent review through mobile applications.
As one researcher aptly states, “Innovative methods transform learners from passive listeners

into active participants” [1, p. 45]. While traditional methods tend to rely on reproductive

techniques (focused on memorization and repetition), innovative approaches are constructive

and interactive by nature. Consider the comparison:
Approach Type Characteristics Disadvantages / Advantages Traditional Memorization-based,

student remains passive, prone to quick forgetting Less effective for practical

applicationInnovativePractice-oriented, interactive engagement, fosters independent thinking,

supports long-term knowledge retentionEncourages deeper learning and active participation
In conclusion, the integration of innovative educational methods in military terminology

instruction plays a crucial role in shaping competent, communicatively skilled military

professionals. Embracing such approaches not only modernizes military education but also

aligns it with global standards of training and knowledge dissemination.
In innovative educational approaches, multimedia tools, mobile applications, simulator

programs, team-based projects, and gamification are widely used. These methods are

particularly effective when teaching military terminology in English and Russian with

explanations in Uzbek. Demonstrating the integration of language and culture is also crucial in

shaping linguocultural competence.
Among the most effective innovative methods are the following:
Case-study: This approach teaches students to apply terminology within real-life military

situations, enhancing problem-solving and analytical skills.
Role-play: Learners take on military roles, allowing them to develop practical language and

communication skills in a simulated operational environment.
Quizzes and gamification: Reinforces terminology learning through engaging, game-based

formats.
Mobile learning: Sparks interest among modern learners through technology-driven instruction.

For instance, platforms like “Uz Army Terms” offer interactive learning of military

terminology in English, Russian, and Uzbek, blending gamified learning with multilingual

access.
Today, learning terminology should not be limited to lexical memorization; it must also be

contextualized culturally. For example, terms such as “honor”, “duty”, and “command” may

carry different connotations across cultures. Understanding these nuances requires exposure to

cultural context and values.
To enhance such understanding, the use of visual maps, interactive training platforms, and role-

playing exercises proves effective. As one scholar notes, “The meaning of military terminology

is better understood through context, national traditions, and service customs” [2, p. 102].
Military terms often encompass distinct cultural, historical, and national meanings. For example,

expressions like “combat readiness”, “relentless struggle”, and “honorable service” are not

merely technical phrases—they carry a strong cultural and ideological load. Recognizing these

embedded meanings contributes to a deeper, more authentic understanding of the military

discourse.
Innovative approaches yield the following positive outcomes:
The acquisition of military terms is accelerated;
Speech and writing competencies are developed;
Acquired knowledge is applied in real-life situations;
Independent and reflective thinking is fostered.
Innovative approaches:
Increase cadets' engagement in the educational process;
Develop speech skills aligned with real-life contexts;
Enhance independent thinking and the ability to make quick decisions;
Teach terminology in a memorable way.
Recommendations:
Organize lessons in military educational institutions based on modern technologies;
Make lessons engaging through interactive and gamification tools;
Develop multimedia dictionaries and mobile applications for military terminology;
Establish specialized “terminological innovation” laboratories in military educational

institutions;
Create a database of mobile applications and electronic dictionaries;

Improve teachers’ qualifications in innovative teaching methods.
Using innovative approaches in teaching military terminology not only increases learning

efficiency but also lays the foundation for successful communication in the professional

activities of military personnel. Moreover, terms understood within a cultural context are

assimilated more deeply.

CONCLUSION

In today's geopolitical environment, studying military terminology from a linguocultural

perspective is crucial for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of global military operations.

Modernizing military education through innovative technologies, real-world case studies, and

cultural theories is a necessity. The integration of linguocultural approaches with innovative

methods significantly improves the effectiveness of military education. Future efforts should

focus on:
Enriching military curricula with digital and cultural modules;
Providing specialized intercultural methodology training for military instructors;
Expanding linguocultural projects and simulation-based training.
