Khudoyev Ghani Muhammadovich,
Professor of the Uzbek State Institute of Arts and Culture
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Art History
Abstract:
In this article, the issue of notating examples of Uzbek folk music heritage and
works of Uzbek composers using Uzbek national melisms on modern notes is put forward.
It envisages the use of the works of Uzbek composers kept in the phonoarchive of Radio
Uzbekistan and the performances of folklore groups in the regions related to the heritage of
folk music, as well as the publication of works taken on notes in the form of an audiovisual
collection.
Keywords
: music, heritage, melody, song, alla, yalla, lapar, composer, hafiz, note.
The Uzbek people have a rich musical heritage, which can be seen in – tunes, songs, alla,
yalla and lapar in various genres of folk music. At the same time, there are a number of
masterpieces created by our composers based on the heritage of folk music, these
masterpieces are still an unforgettable heritage of the Uzbek people, and for many more
years, they are an inexhaustible intangible cultural heritage of Uzbek music and
compositional creativity. He also serves to discover many great performers and musicians.
Therefore, in order to pass on our rich musical heritage to the next generation, it is
necessary to notate samples that have not yet been recorded in many modern musical
notation paths, as well as to publish notated works in the form of an audiovisual collection.
Resolution No. PQ-405 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 27,
2023 “On additional measures for the protection, scientific study and promotion of
intangible cultural heritage ” A state order is issued to create 50 audiovisual works every
year for recording and wide promotion of intangible cultural heritage samples, including
publication on the Internet and social networks “clause also, in accordance with clauses
such as “2024-2026, organization of local and foreign ethno-folkloric expeditions for the
scientific study of intangible cultural heritage, masterpieces of Uzbek music, Uzbek folk
music - notation of works of songs and composers and creation of their audiovisual
collection is of great importance.
It is known that the works of a number of Uzbek composers recorded in the sound recording
fund of Radio Uzbekistan are not recorded, as well as four local music styles of our republic
(Bukhara-Samarkand, Fergana-Tashkent, Khorezm, Surkhandarya-Kashkadarya) it is the
need of the hour to notate examples of folk music heritage using modern sheet music
programs.
The purpose of our small research is to notate the works of a number of our composers
Fakhriddin Sodikov, Orifkhan Hotamov, Komiljon Otaniyozov, Fakhriddin Umarov,
Gulomjon Hajikulov, Olmas Rasulov and other such well-loved composers and hafiz, which
are kept in the phonoarchive of Radio Uzbekistan, and at the same time, the issue of
recording the masterpieces of our people in the regions of our republic on modern musical
notation is put forward.
It may seem that the scientific research conducted by Uzbek musicologists on various topics
is enough to clarify this issue. However, as noted, in scientific research conducted within a

certain topic, the heritage of folk music or the works of composers were briefly recorded
and served as a model for analysis.
It is known from the musical samples or analyzes presented in the scientific works of a
number of our Uzbek musicologists (F.Karomatov, TGafurbekov, R.Abdullayev,
O.Ibrohimov, R.Yunusov, etc.) on the heritage of folk music and composition, that our
masterpieces, which are examples of the heritage of Uzbek folk music of various genres or
the product of composition, have not yet been taken into detailed notes.
It should be noted that our musicologists took some notes during the theoretical study of
Uzbek folk music and composers' works created in different periods within a certain topic.
However, we are witnessing that several works written by composers are recorded in the
phonoarchive of Radio Uzbekistan performed by great teachers and kept in the gold fund.
But the fact that these works have not been recorded to this day calls us to be alert.
As an example, we see that Ravshan Yunusov in his scientific monograph “Fakhriddin
Sodikov” translated samples of some of the composer's works, which are the product of his
creativity, into notes during musical analysis in the interpretation of performing hafiz. In the
appendix of the monograph, he lists more than 350 works of the composer Fakhriddin
Sodikov and records the audio recording numbers of the performance of more than 160
works stored in the gold fund of Radio Uzbekistan
.
R. Yunusov's “Fattohkhan hafiz” monograph on the life and work of Fattohkhan
Mamadaliyev, S. Begmatov's monograph on the life and creative work of Orifkhan
Hotamov, and a number of hafiz's “"Art of Hafiz" books, D. Kadirova's ” Immortal
Rasulov“monographs and other studies can be seen
.
Also, in the scientific research works, monographs and dissertations conducted by our
musicologists and art historians on various topics, it can be seen that some examples of folk
and classical music heritage have been translated into notes
.
Academic publications written by Viktor Uspensky, Yunus Rajabi, Matniyoz Yusupov,
Faizulla Karomatli and others, the service of great teachers who have not spared their
service in reaching our days in the form of notes is very incomparable, their legacy for the
future of the nation will never be forgotten, and worthy of praise. It should be noted that the
works written by the composers and examples of the heritage of Uzbek folk music are
recorded in the European academic style, and the decorations present in our national music
(nola, kashish, kachirim, etc.) are not taken into account, no exaggeration. To date,
musicians or singers of different nationalities who have performed the works recorded

directly from the sheet music distinguish which folk musical heritage the work belongs to,
and invite some consideration.
Therefore, if we take into account the performance of Uzbek folk music or masterpieces of
Uzbek composers and maqam works on world stages, then – nota“or ” nota sign, which
represents “nola, kachirim, kashish and other Uzbek national melisms based on folk songs,
it seems necessary to take into account, in our opinion!
The purpose of this article is to collect the masterpieces of Uzbek composers stored in the
phonoarchive of Radio Uzbekistan, as well as the performances of professional and folklore
groups operating in the regions, sound recordings of musical works kept in home museums
of composers, and the life of composers and materials related to his work are collected,
turned into notes. It is published in the form of a musical collection and a chronology. All
collected audio recordings are made into an audiovisual set using the sibilius program. The
created audiovisual set is placed on a special electronic platform. The created audiovisual
collection is provided for use in the teaching processes of art and culture universities,
special music and art colleges, and schools and lyceums specializing in music. At the same
time, in enriching the existing literature base of the Union of Composers and Composers of
Uzbekistan, it is of great importance in providing the composers of Uzbekistan with
collections translated into notes (educational, literature, chrestomaty, etc.). It also serves as
a methodical resource for young scientists conducting scientific research on the heritage of
Uzbek folk music and professional music.
Taking into account that this idea requires a lot of money, it would be appropriate to do it
within the framework of a certain practical project or grant program.
Innovative projects have been implemented in foreign countries within the framework of the
topic of notation. In particular, the program called notation based on artificial intelligence
technologies
was
essentially
implemented
[(http://sing2notes.com;
http://melodyscanner.com/)], video manual on the use of this system is also presented on the
YouTube social network (http://youtu.be/nOSPqvTcNcA). However, in the content of this
project, European music culture aimed at learning and promoting, it is clear that it does not
show color enriched with national musical decorations to study the heritage of Uzbek folk
music, including the work of Uzbek composers.
The audiovisual collection prepared from the samples of the Uzbek folk music heritage and
the sheet music publications of the composers we are promoting – Uzbek folk songs and
masterpieces of Uzbek composers are translated into notes for the next generation with the
help of modern musical software serves to deliver educational literature and audiovisual
versions. At the same time, if the mechanisms for placing the created audiovisual collection
in an open state on special platforms on social networks are implemented, this will create an
audiovisual collection publication created for foreign Uzbek art lovers interested in the
work of Uzbek folk music and composers from all over the world. great opportunities will
be created for them to see, listen and carry out scientific research. Also, by placing it in an
open position on a special platform, the financing options of the idea we are proposing
would be expanded.
