Abstract
English folklore is characterized by a rich tapestry of myths, legends and fairy tales passed down
from generation to generation. Stories of knights, dragons, and enchanted forests are steeped in English

folklore, reflecting themes of heroism, chivalry, and morality. In contrast, Uzbek folklore is steeped in
Central Asian traditions, with epic poems, legends about legendary heroes such as Alpamish, and moral
values that emphasize societal norms focusing on fairy tales. Studying English and Uzbek folklore can
significantly improve intercultural communication skills by developing an appreciation for the cultural
nuances, values, and storytelling styles unique to each tradition. By engaging with the stories and
symbolism contained in these folklore works, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of the historical,
social, and philosophical foundations that underlie various cultures. This, in turn, helps to develop
empathy, respect and open-mindedness towards different points of view, and to establish effective
intercultural communication and relationships.

By studying English and Uzbek folklore, individuals can broaden their cultural

increasingly interconnected world forms the values, beliefs and traditions of societies

and traditions of various societies around the world. The folklore of different cultures, such
as English and Uzbek, gives unique insights into the values, customs and storytelling
traditions that have shaped these societies over the centuries. In this article, we will explore
the unique features of English and Uzbek folklore works and their profound impact on the
development of intercultural communication competence. By exploring the rich stories,
myths, and legends of these two cultural traditions, we aim to highlight how the study and
appreciation of folklore can enhance intercultural understanding, empathy, and
communication skills in an increasingly interconnected world. [2]

English folklore includes many tales, legends, and myths based on a rich tradition
of oral storytelling. Themes of magic, heroism and morality are common, and famous
characters such as King Arthur and Robin Hood have captured the imagination of audiences

for centuries. These stories, often transmitted through ballads and literary works, greatly
influenced English literature, art, and popular culture.[1]
Specific features of Uzbek folklore:
In contrast, Uzbek folk art is characterized by strong oral art, stories, songs, and
poems that reflect the cultural values and traditions of the Uzbek people. Themes of love,
heroism, and spirituality are dominant in Uzbek folklore, and they are expressed through
various art forms, such as stories, music, and dance. Through these tools, Uzbek folklore
preserves the cultural identity and heritage of Uzbek society.
Impact on intercultural communication competence:
Studying and engaging with folklore works of different cultures, such as English
and Uzbek folklore, provides valuable insights into the development of intercultural
communication competence. By understanding the values, beliefs, and customs embedded
in these folklore works, individuals can develop a deeper appreciation, empathy, and
understanding of different cultures.

In conclusion, the study of English and Uzbek folklore works creates a unique
