LEARNING LANGUAGES AS A FACTOR IN THE DEVELOPMENT
OF STUDENTS’ COMMUNICATION

Annotation: The relevance of this topic lies in the development of students'
communicative competence. Students are a typical group of future personnel who
must have a special sense of responsibility for their future profession. Many of us
encounter nationalities of different languages. Not knowing the language can cause
incomplete communication. If a student does not speak the language well, he will not
be able to enter into communication and will not have a complete and broad
understanding of the information. The reason for such high attention to knowledge of
the Russian language is the need for mandatory mastery of not only professional, but
also communicative competence.
Key words: formation of communicative competence, compulsory mastery,
professional sphere, multinationality, expansion of linguistic horizons
Learning languages, including Russian, has a significant impact on students’
communication skills. Let’s look at some key aspects of how learning Russian
influences communication:
1. Expanding language horizons
Learning Russian helps students understand the cultural and historical
characteristics of Russian-speaking countries, which in turn contributes to the
development of intercultural competence. This is especially important in the era of
globalization, when understanding another culture and its language helps build more
effective and respectful communication links.

2. Improving cognitive skills
Learning Russian, like any other foreign language, helps develop cognitive
abilities such as memory, concentration, and critical thinking. Students who study
Russian learn to analyze and understand more complex language structures, which
can improve their ability to argue and express their thoughts in any language.
Изучение языков оказывает значительное влияние на различные аспекты
нашей жизни, начиная от когнитивного развития и заканчивая расширением
социальных и культурных горизонтов. Вот несколько ключевых аспектов:

Russian language helps students improve their communication skills with
native speakers, which is important for professional and personal relationships.
Students who speak Russian can successfully interact in international teams and better
understand the needs and cultural characteristics of Russian-speaking partners.
4. Developing empathy and tolerance
Learning Russian is often accompanied by studying literature, art, and history
of Russia, which forms a deeper understanding of the worldview of other people. This
helps students become more empathetic and tolerant, which improves their
communication skills and interaction with people from different cultures.
5. Practical application in the professional sphere
For many professions, such as international relations, translation, tourism, and
business, knowledge of Russian becomes an important advantage. The ability to
communicate in Russian opens up new career opportunities and improves
professional communication in these areas.

1. Cognitive development: Learning languages improves memory, attention,
and the ability to multitask. Research shows that multilingual people can switch
between tasks more easily and solve problems faster.
2. Brain development: Learning a new language stimulates the brain, which
can slow down aging and reduce the risk of developing diseases such as dementia and
Alzheimer's.
3. Expanding cultural horizons: Knowing a foreign language allows you to
delve deeper into the culture, literature, and traditions of other peoples, which makes
a person more open and tolerant of differences.
4. Improving career opportunities: In today's globalized world, knowing
several languages is a competitive advantage in the labor market. Many companies
value employees who can communicate with clients or partners in their native
language.
5. Developing empathy and communication: Understanding how people
express their thoughts and emotions in different languages develops empathy and
improves interpersonal communication skills.
6. Confidence and self-realization: Learning a new language requires effort
and discipline, which develops a sense of self-confidence and promotes personal
growth.
Thus, learning languages has a multifaceted impact on our lives, improving
both personal and professional skills, as well as contributing to the development of
cognitive abilities and social adaptation.
The methodological basis for developing communicative competence is to
develop the skills and abilities necessary for the effective and successful exchange of
information and ideas with other people. Communicative competence includes
several key components:
1. Reflective ability: This is the ability to adequately perceive and understand
information that comes from outside. To develop reflective ability, it is necessary to
take into account the context and cultural differences, as well as to be open to new
information.

2. Creating a connection: This component is the ability to establish and
maintain relationships with others, creating a sense of respect and mutual
understanding. Key skills in this aspect are active listening, empathy and feedback.
3. Voluntary planning: This is the ability to plan and structure your speech to
achieve a specific goal. When developing voluntary planning skills, it is important to
consider the audience, context and goals of communication.
4. Lexical apparatus: This is a set of words and phrases that allow you to
express your thoughts and ideas clearly and accurately. To develop the lexical
apparatus, you need to expand your vocabulary, learn to write and speak according to
the rules of grammar and stylistics.
5. Logical Structure: This is the ability to organize your speech logically,
using logical connections and structure to make it clear to the listener what you are
saying. When learning logical structure, it is important to consider logical patterns,
inferences, and connections between ideas.
6. Emotional Intelligence: This is the ability to understand and manage your
own emotions, as well as empathize with the emotions of others. This is important for
establishing an emotional connection and creating what is called an internal dialogue.
7. Cultural Interaction: This is the ability to adapt to different cultural contexts
and understand cultural differences. To develop cultural interaction, it is necessary to
learn cultural norms and values, as well as learn to interact with people from different
cultures.
8. Non-verbal communication: This is the ability to use non-verbal cues such
as gestures, facial expressions, and tone of voice to emphasize and complement your
speech. Developing non-verbal communication skills helps improve the effectiveness
of communication and create a more positive impression of yourself.
To develop communicative competence, it is necessary to practice and study
in various situations of information exchange and communication with different
people.

Learning languages, including Russian, has a significant impact on students'
communication skills. Let's consider several key aspects of the impact of learning
Russian on communication:

Learning Russian helps students develop not only language skills, but also

cognitive abilities. These skills make them better prepared to communicate in today's
globalized world.
Knowledge of foreign languages significantly helps in communication,
opening up many opportunities:
1. Expanding your social circle. You can interact with people from different
countries, understanding their language and culture, which contributes to deeper
connections.
2. Increasing the level of mutual understanding. Knowing a language helps
avoid misunderstandings and better perceive the nuances of communication,
including cultural characteristics and emotional nuances.
3. Improving professional opportunities. Knowing several languages, you
become more in demand in the labor market, especially in international companies.
4. Improving the cultural level. Learning a language allows you to better
understand literature, films, and other cultural aspects of the country, which
contributes to the development of intercultural competence.
5. Strengthening cognitive abilities. Learning languages develops memory,
attention, and the ability to multitask, which also contributes to more effective
interaction with people.
Thus, knowledge of foreign languages not only facilitates communication, but
also enriches personal and professional experience.
