PSYCHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF CHILDREN WITH BRONCHIAL ASTHMA
DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY OF THE DISEASE

Relevance.
Bronchial asthma is one of the most common allergic diseases and it is important to
have an idea of the contribution of psychological characteristics of the child and the autonomic
nervous system to the realization of BA.
Objective of the study:
to reveal the psychological characteristics of children with bronchial
asthma.
Materials and methods.
The study included 40 children with asthma at the age of 7-17 years, who
are registered at the family polyclinic № 56 in Tashkent. For all children, a registration card was
filled out, including data from anamnesis of life and disease, the results of laboratory and
instrumental studies and a survey conducted on the scale of children's depression (CDI) M. Kovacs,
information about their hobbies.
Results and discussion.
The average age of the examined children was 13 years (29 boys and 11
girls). Depending on the severity of the disease, the children were divided into 3 groups: 1 - mild
(n = 15), 2 - moderate (n = 7), 3 - severe (n = 7). A group with newly diagnosed bronchial asthma
(n = 11) was singled out separately. According to M. Kovacs test, a general decrease in mood, a
constant expectation of trouble was significantly more frequent in children with moderate bronchial
asthma compared with severe and newly diagnosed bronchial asthma (90% versus 71% and 73%,
respectively; p <0.02) and not met with mild bronchial asthma. Interpersonal problems, aggressive
behavior, disobedience were characteristic of children with moderate and severe asthma compared
to children with mild and newly diagnosed bronchial asthma (90% and 85% versus 40% and 45%;
p <0.001). Loss of motivation for activities that bring pleasure, the presence of a feeling of
loneliness also prevailed in children with moderate and severe bronchial asthma compared with
children with mild bronchial asthma (71% versus 33%; p <0.001), but were also typical for children
with the first identified bronchial asthma (63%). The level of depression above the average was
found in almost all children with moderate and severe bronchial asthma (90% and 100%,
respectively) and in every third child with mild and newly diagnosed bronchial asthma (26% and
33%, respectively). At the same time, half of children with mild and newly diagnosed bronchial
asthma chose creative (music (47%), fine arts (55%)) and educational (40%) classes after school;
every third child with moderate bronchial asthma was involved in strength physical sports, and most
of the children with severe asthma did not have hobbies and extracurricular activities.
Findings.
The psychological characteristics of children with bronchial asthma depend on the
severity of the disease. The following types of extracurricular activities / hobbies have the most
favorable influence on the psychoemotional state of the child: creative (music and visual arts) and
educational.
