A COMPREHENSIVE COMPARATIVE LINGUISTIC STUDY OF WOMEN’S COSMETIC TERMINOLOGY IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

Annotasiya

This thesis offers an in-depth comparative linguistic study of women’s cosmetic terminology in English and Uzbek, emphasizing the linguistic mechanisms of term formation, borrowing, adaptation, translation, and semantic transformation. In the contemporary era of globalization and media influence, the beauty and cosmetics industry has emerged as a powerful socio-economic and cultural force. The English language, being the dominant language in global commerce and popular culture, has become the principal source of new terminologies in this domain. This linguistic dominance has led to the widespread integration of English cosmetic terms into various other languages, including Uzbek, where the phenomenon of borrowing has accelerated rapidly in recent decades.
