Abstract.
This thesis explores the key differences between newspapers and journals in
terms of purpose, content, audience, and credibility. While newspapers provide timely and general
information for the public, journals offer in-depth, scholarly research for academic and
professional audiences. The study highlights the distinct roles of these media in knowledge
dissemination and their impact on different sectors of society.
Key words:
Newspapers, journals, media, credibility, audience, research, information.
Introduction:
Newspapers and journals are two major sources of information, but they
serve different purposes and audiences. Understanding their differences is essential for
distinguishing between general news and scholarly research. This thesis aims to compare
newspapers and journals by examining their characteristics, credibility, and contributions to
society.
Literature review:
Previous studies have explored the distinct roles of newspapers and
journals. Newspapers are often described as sources of current events and public information,
whereas journals are viewed as academic resources that contribute to knowledge development.
This section reviews literature that discusses these distinctions and their relevance in media and
academia.
Methodology:
This study employs a comparative analysis method by examining sample
newspapers and journals. The research focuses on key aspects such as publication frequency,
content type, target audience, and reliability. Data from media studies and academic sources are
also analyzed to support the findings.
Results:
The comparison reveals significant differences between newspapers and journals.
Newspapers provide daily or weekly news reports, covering politics, economics, and entertainment
in a concise manner. In contrast, journals publish peer-reviewed research articles, emphasizing
detailed analysis and academic contributions. Additionally, newspapers target the general public,
while journals cater to scholars and professionals.

Discussion:
The findings demonstrate that newspapers prioritize speed and accessibility,
whereas journals focus on accuracy and depth. These differences affect how information is
perceived and used in various fields. While newspapers are suitable for quick updates, journals
provide reliable data for academic and professional research.
Conclusion:
Newspapers and journals play vital but distinct roles in information
dissemination. Newspapers offer broad and timely coverage of current affairs, while journals
contribute to scholarly discourse through rigorous research. Understanding their differences helps
individuals select appropriate sources for their information needs.
