Abstract.

This thesis analyzes the opportunities and challenges of integrating the USMLE

(United States Medical Licensing Examination) system into the medical education system of

Uzbekistan. The USMLE system is a globally recognized examination that sets high standards

for training medical professionals. Integrating this system into Uzbekistan’s medical education

will enhance the quality of education, improve the competitiveness of graduates on an

international scale, and align local training with global standards.

Introduction

The integration of the USMLE examination into Uzbekistan's medical education system

presents challenges due to the unique characteristics of the national education system.

Differences in curricula, teaching methodologies, and assessment systems may hinder the

seamless adoption of USMLE standards. These disparities need to be addressed in order to align

the national education system with international benchmarks, ensuring the compatibility of local

medical training with USMLE requirements. One of the key challenges in the integration process

is the need to improve the qualifications of medical educators.

The USMLE examination relies heavily on contemporary educational techniques,

including competency-based assessment and clinical reasoning skills. Thus, instructors must be

trained in these advanced methodologies, which requires continuous professional development

and the creation of training programs tailored to the new requirements.

A significant challenge lies in the availability of study materials and resources aligned

with the USMLE format. Currently, there may be a gap in the accessibility of high-quality, up-

to-date resources for students preparing for the exam. This includes textbooks, practice exams,

and other learning materials that reflect the structure and content of the USMLE. Bridging this

gap is crucial for ensuring that students are adequately prepared for the examination.

Legal and economic challenges also play a role in the integration of the USMLE system.

The introduction of an international licensing examination like USMLE may require

modifications to existing national laws and regulations, particularly in areas such as medical

licensing and accreditation. Additionally, the economic implications of implementing the

USMLE system—such as the costs associated with training faculty, updating curricula, and

acquiring necessary resources—must be carefully considered. These financial and legal barriers

must be addressed to ensure the successful integration of the USMLE examination.

Conclusion

The integration of the USMLE examination into Uzbekistan's medical education system

presents both significant opportunities and challenges. On the one hand, it offers a pathway to

improving the quality of medical education, enhancing international competitiveness, and

aligning local training with global standards. However, the process requires addressing several

challenges, including the compatibility of the national education system with USMLE

requirements, the need for faculty development in new teaching methodologies, the availability

of appropriate study resources, and the resolution of legal and economic barriers.
