CHALLENGES IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES USING MODERN
INNOVATIVE PEDAGOGICAL TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract. This article explores the challenges and opportunities associated with teaching
foreign languages through the use of innovative pedagogical technologies. It discusses the
evolution of technological tools in language education, ranging from multimedia resources to
cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality.

Annotatsiya. Ushbu maqola xorijiy tillarni o‘qitishda innovatsion pedagogik
texnologiyalarni qo‘llash bilan bog‘liq muammolar va imkoniyatlarni o‘rganadi. Maqolada til
ta'limida texnologik vositalarning rivojlanishi, multimedia resurslaridan tortib, sun'iy intellekt,
virtual haqiqat va kengaytirilgan haqiqat kabi ilg‘or texnologiyalargacha bo‘lgan jarayonlar
muhokama qilinadi.
Kalit so‘zlar: pedagogik texnologiyalar, innovatsion pedagogik texnologiyalar,
texnologik vositalar, raqamli platformalar, tillarni o‘qitishdagi muammolar, samarali til
o‘rganish.
Аннотация. В данной статье рассматриваются проблемы и возможности,
связанные с обучением иностранным языкам с использованием инновационных
педагогических технологий. Обсуждается эволюция технологических инструментов в
языковом образовании, начиная от мультимедийных ресурсов и заканчивая передовыми
технологиями, такими как искусственный интеллект, виртуальная реальность и
дополненная реальность.
Ключевые слова: педагогические технологии, инновационные педагогические
технологии, технологические инструменты, цифровые платформы, проблемы в обучении
языкам, эффективное обучение языкам.
In recent times, the role of innovative teaching technologies in foreign language tutoring
has become increasingly important. The swift development of digital tools, the internet, and
various learning platforms has transformed how languages are taught and learned. The
incorporation of technology into language education is now a fundamental aspect that enriches
the overall learning experience. The effective application of technology in today's educational
process not only facilitates the delivery of content in more engaging and interactive manners but
also aids students in developing crucial language skills, such as listening, speaking, reading, and
writing, in a more integrated and dynamic environment. Furthermore, technological tools enable
learners to practice their language skills in real-world contexts, often through virtual
environments, chatbots, and online language exchanges, which promote a more authentic and

immersive experience. These digital platforms also allow for personalized learning, catering to
individual needs and learning speeds, which is particularly beneficial in a classroom setting with
diverse learners. As a result, students are not only able to acquire theoretical knowledge but also
improve their practical language proficiency by engaging with the language in meaningful, real-
life situations. However, despite the potential benefits, the application of innovative pedagogical
technologies in foreign language teaching presents several challenges that need to be addressed.
The Development of Innovative Pedagogical Technologies
The use of cutting-edge teaching technologies in foreign language education has
progressed through various phases. At first, the introduction of audiovisual aids, multimedia
tools, and, subsequently, online resources and digital learning platforms significantly enhanced
the educational experience. Currently, technologies like artificial intelligence, learning
algorithms, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) offer educators new ways to
improve their teaching strategies and enrich students' language acquisition journeys. The fast-
evolving nature of technology often surpasses the capacity of educational institutions to adapt
and refresh their curricula, which can cause a mismatch between the content delivered and the
available technologies. This situation may lead to limited use or ineffective application of
resources, ultimately diminishing the overall impact of technology in educational settings.
Speаking skill is estimаted to be the most essentiаl аctive skill for а foreign lаnguаge
leаrning. It is producing utterаnces for communicаting messаges. It stаrts from infаncy to be
developed during childhood to mаturity. [6]
Problems in Teaching Foreign Languages
While implementing innovative technologies in foreign language teaching, several
problems arise. Some of the main challenges include:
Teachers' Qualifications -
to successfully implement innovative technologies, educators
need to continuously enhance their skills. However, numerous teachers are not sufficiently
equipped for new technologies, which may impact the quality of instruction.
Lack of Resources and Infrastructure -
in several developing nations, access to essential
infrastructure and resources for employing technologies in foreign language education is limited.
Insufficient availability of the internet, computers, mobile devices, and contemporary multimedia
tools hinders the process.
Curriculum and Methodology Adaptation - t
he incorporation of new technologies
necessitates updating curricula and seamlessly integrating innovative approaches into current
teaching methods. Many curricula still depend on outdated teaching techniques and do not align
with contemporary technological advancements.
Innovative pedagogical technologies offer several advantages in the teaching of foreign
languages:
Interactivity and Engagement.
The use of interactive platforms and virtual environments
in language learning provides students with opportunities to actively engage with the material
and practice their language skills in realistic, context-based scenarios. These platforms, which
often include features like quizzes, interactive exercises, and simulations, encourage students to
take an active role in their learning rather than passively receiving information. Pedagogical
experience shows that works on creating Internet resources are interesting for students because

of their novelty, relevance, and creativity. Organizing students' cognitive activities in small
groups allows everyone to show their activity. [7]
Today, as practice shows, the most effective learning factor is the resources and means of
communication provided by the Internet. A foreign language teacher is faced with the task of
comprehending and incorporating into the educational process this powerful means of increasing
motivation and modeling the language environment. [1] As a result, the learning process
becomes more tailored to each student's needs, making it both more engaging and effective in
achieving language proficiency.
Individualized Approach.
Language learning can now be customized in previously
unattainable ways because to developments in artificial intelligence (AI). AI-based systems are
able to determine a student's learning preferences and degree of expertise before producing
information that is tailored to their individual requirements. For instance, a student who has
trouble pronouncing words correctly can be given specific exercises to help them speak more
clearly, while a student who needs more vocabulary practice can participate in vocabulary-
building exercises. Whether a student is a visual, aural, or kinesthetic learner, AI-powered
platforms can accommodate their unique learning preferences to provide a more stimulating and
encouraging environment that promotes a deeper comprehension and command of the language.
Breaking Geographical and Temporal Barriers.
One of the key benefits of online
courses and mobile apps is their ability to remove traditional constraints related to time and
place. In the past, students were often restricted to attending classes at fixed times or in physical
classrooms, which could be inconvenient or unavailable for some. With the rise of online
platforms and mobile applications, learners can now access language lessons anytime and
anywhere, enabling them to study at their own pace and fit their learning into their personal
schedules. Whether a student lives in a remote area with limited access to language classes or has
a busy lifestyle that prevents them from attending regular sessions, these tools offer the
flexibility needed to make language learning more accessible. Indeed, in the context of the
informatization of education, the role of the teacher is evolving, and they often take on the role
of a director or facilitator in the learning process. The effective use of computer technology is
pivotal in modern education, and teachers should view it not as a competitor but as a powerful
tool to enhance the learning experience. [5]
In conclusion, while teaching foreign languages through innovative pedagogical
technologies offers exciting new possibilities, overcoming various challenges is essential for
success. Enhancing teacher training, building the required infrastructure, and updating curricula
and teaching methods are key steps to effectively incorporate these technologies. Such an
approach will not only improve the quality of language learning but also boost students'
motivation to study. Additionally, the article highlights the benefits of using these technologies,
such as greater interactivity, tailored learning experiences, and the ability to eliminate barriers
related to time and location. Finally, the article proposes strategies for overcoming the
challenges, such as continuous teacher training, digitalizing learning materials, and utilizing
online platforms. The overall goal of the article is to provide a comprehensive overview of how
innovative pedagogical technologies can transform foreign language teaching while addressing
potential obstacles to their implementation.
