With the increasing reliance on digital tools in language learning, such as mobile apps, language learning platforms, and speech recognition systems, psychological issues such as language anxiety, social isolation, over-reliance on technology, and decreased motivation have surfaced. These challenges hinder the effectiveness of technology in enhancing students’ speaking skills. Through a mixed-methods approach, the study investigates students' experiences, focusing on how digital tools impact their motivation, emotional well-being, and speaking confidence. The findings suggest that while digital technologies offer significant opportunities, they also require thoughtful integration to reduce anxiety and enhance engagement in speaking tasks.

The comparison of tense systems in English and Russian languages

This article provides a comparative analysis of the tense systems in English and Russian, highlighting their structural and functional differences. English, with its twelve tenses, offers a comprehensive framework to express time and aspect, emphasizing tense-aspect combinations such as simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous forms. In contrast, Russian features a simpler tense structure—past, present, and future—relying heavily on verbal aspects (perfective and imperfective) to convey nuances of time and completion. The article explores the implications of these differences, particularly in the formation of the future tense, negation, and question structures, while also discussing the role of context in resolving temporal ambiguity. This study sheds light on the challenges faced by learners of both languages and underscores the significance of understanding tense-aspect systems for cross-linguistic competence.

This pilot study explores the linguistic dynamics of Criollo Sanandresano, a variety of the Creole language spoken in the San Andrés Archipelago, Colombia. The study investigates the impact of language contact between Criollo Sanandresano, Spanish, and English, with a focus on how these interactions shape the phonological, syntactic, and lexical features of the language. By analyzing both historical and contemporary language use through interviews, surveys, and field observations, the research identifies key factors influencing language change and language maintenance in this multilingual context. The study reveals that while Criollo Sanandresano has preserved many of its creole features, ongoing contact with Spanish and English has led to significant lexical borrowing and syntactic shifts. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of language contact phenomena, particularly in island and coastal communities, and provides insights into the complex linguistic landscape of Colombia’s Caribbean region.
