The authors conducted an orthodontic examination of 1786 children aged 6 to 13 years (985 of whom were boys and 801 were girls) living in Tashkent, and the distribution and interrelation of body functionality, as well as sound production during open bite, other anomalies and deformations of the dentofacial system were determined. Clinical studies and functional tests were conducted to determine the orthodontic and speech therapy status of the examined children. Timely detection, development and implementation of complex treatment and preventive measures are the key to successful elimination of dentofacial anomalies (especially open bite) and deformations of the dentofacial row in children.
Only the joint work of specialists in the medical and pedagogical fields made it possible to timely and effectively eliminate anatomical disorders in the structure of organs involved in articulation and to correct the maxillofacial development of the child's body as a whole.
