Introduction

Interest rates are pivotal in shaping economic landscapes. They influence

borrowing costs, consumer spending, and business investment decisions,
making them crucial for policymakers and economists. Understanding the
dynamics of interest rates and the underlying factors driving these changes is
essential for effective economic forecasting and policy formulation.

Interest Rates and Economic Indicators

Impact of Interest Rates on Economic Growth

Interest rates directly affect the level of investment in the economy.

Higher interest rates generally discourage borrowing due to increased costs,
leading to reduced capital expenditure by businesses. Conversely, lower interest
rates make borrowing cheaper, encouraging investment and potentially
fostering economic growth.

Interest rates serve as a tool for controlling inflation. When central

banks raise interest rates, it tends to reduce consumer spending and borrowing,
