Abstract

Communication plays a central role in shaping a person's Identity, hence it

is key to establish a connection with others. This research explores the way of
communication among humans when the shared language is unavailable.
Clearly, the researcher explains some methods to communicate without shared
language. These strategies are non-verbal communication, visual aids, and
simplified language. The process of communicating through these alternatives is
also depicted in this research work. Historical examples are provided to prove
the use of methods below because history can be the primary model to explain
the process. People easily can adopt the new circumstances, so the author
analyzes the practice of these three approaches. This research explains an
exploration of how these approaches continue to be relevant in the modern,
technologically advanced world.

Introduction

Communications is the crucial factor for forming and maintaining strong

relationships in a society. The first question that comes to your mind is how did
people communicate with each other in the past. The early form of
communication can be a pictograph, gestures, colors, or things that early people
use daily. For example, Egyptian hieroglyphs and Mesopotamian cuneiform
relied on pictures, objects, and actions. When it comes to gestures, we can take
dumb people as a Real module. They use mostly their fingers to explain their
notions. This form of communication highlights the importance of non-verbal
cues in human interaction. The last one is simplified language, so ceramic
potteries can be an example. People might use them as a word, clearly they
utilized them to explain something. American sociologist, Charles Horton Cooley
introduces the Concept of " Communication as the foundation of Social life" in

his "Human Nature and the social order", (1902). He believed that
communication is the very basis of social life. He argued that society exists
through the ongoing interaction and communication of individuals. Without
communication, there would be no shared meanings, no common
understandings, and no social organization. He saw communication as a
dynamic and reciprocal process, where individuals are constantly influencing
and being influenced by each other.

Main Body

In order to make conversation without verbal communication, we can use

some methods that are mentioned below. These forms of expression allow
individuals to convey thoughts and emotions without relying on spoken words.
The first prominent strategy is non-verbal communication, which demands hand
movements, facial expressions, and div language to express thoughts or eye
contact. People can communicate by using their hands, gesture movements. This
is a common way of communication that we can see on a daily basis. Even early
humans in the past used this method while they were hunting animals.

Another effective method involves the use of visual aids, such as

pictographs. This method existed in Egypt and Mesopotamian writings in the
past. They used some square, circle shapes, or the picture of an eagle, a hand, etc.
For example, the depiction of the leg could symbolize actions like walking,
standing, and dying in Mesopotamian writings. Each picture has its own special
meaning. Firstly, this style existed by the Maya Civilization. They developed a
sophisticated system of pictographic writings.

Eventually, simplified language, in this context, people would reduce

complex notions into basic words or phrases that could be understood by
objects. People use some objects, colors, or numbers as a word. Significantly, the
Colors can be used as language. Even though we use this type of language in our
national flags. For instance, in Uzbekistan's flag, the white stripe means
peacefulness, the blue stripe represents the purity of the sky, the red stripe
means the blood in our veins, the green stripe means the nature that we are
living. Furthermore, twelve Stars and the moon can express twelve regions and
one republic in our country, hence it can be a real example of pictographic
language. In this method, the use of objects, colors, and simplified symbols
allows for an enriched understanding of communication beyond words, making
it a strong tool for connection and expression in diverse contexts. “
Communication is one of the most important skills you require for a successful
life.” — Catherine Pulsifer

Conclusion

In conclusion, the exploration of communication methods in the absence of

a shared language reveals the adaptability and creativity of humans in conveying
thoughts and emotions. Non-verbal communication, visual aids, and simplified
language serve as powerful alternatives that transcend linguistic barriers.
Historical examples underscore their effectiveness, demonstrating that even in
ancient times, people found ways to connect and share ideas. As society
continues to evolve in a technologically advanced world, these strategies remain
relevant, reminding us of the essential role communication plays in forming
connections and sustaining social interactions. The enduring significance of
these approaches highlights the importance of understanding and embracing
diverse methods of communication in our increasingly interconnected lives.
