Abstract:
This article discusses the artistic interpretation of science in the work
“A
Day in the Galaxy”
and highlights the contributions of contemporary Uzbek
children's literature representative Sa’dulla Quronov to the development of
the science fiction genre. It also touches on the significance of science fiction
in today’s era of rapid scientific and technological development.
Keywords:
science, science fiction, scientific facts, genre, cosmos
Introduction:
In today’s era of rapid scientific and technological development, the
progress of science plays a crucial role. Modern writers cleverly integrate
scientific achievements and the advantages of gaining knowledge into their
literary works, bringing a new spirit and expression to our literature. One
such writer is Sa’dulla Quronov. The author gained readers' affection through
his works
“A Day in the Galaxy”
and its logical sequel
“The Gem of the Cosmos”
.
We aim to reflect on how the author skillfully conveys scientific elements
through art and the uniqueness of his works.
Main Section:
Sa’dulla Quronov’s
“A Day in the Galaxy”
is considered one
of the prominent examples of the science fiction genre in Uzbek literature. In
this work, the author successfully combines elements of science, adventure,
and fantasy, inviting readers to delve into the mysterious and fascinating
aspects of the cosmos. The scientific and technological elements form the core
of the work, with a deep exploration of their impact on human life.
The significance of science in the work is reflected in several ways:
1.Depictions of the Cosmos:
The vastness of space, planets, and stars
are depicted based on scientific principles. During Ahmad’s journey through
space and his interactions with extraterrestrials, he often supports his
inventions with scientific facts. Ahmad’s profound knowledge allows him to
easily find solutions to various problems. His extraterrestrial friends are
impressed by his intelligence, knowledge, and wit, holding him in great
respect.

Examples of scientific facts mentioned in the work include:
"– The spacecraft separates from the rocket and, – our hero continued, – is
caught in a gravitational wave in space with a small amount of energy. Gravity,
that is, the laws of attraction in the entire universe, make this possible.
Newton and Einstein’s theories of gravity confirm this. Gravity is an invisible
force that keeps the entire universe in motion. In space, there are waves of
gravity similar to those in rivers. If my ship falls into one of these waves, it can
fly to any point in space at high speed. – He began showing a chart of his
calculations on the monitor. – The principles of quantum physics show this..."
[page 5].
This passage, taken from the section
"The Inventors’ Contest"
, shows
Ahmad explaining his invented interplanetary spacecraft to the contest
judges, with clear scientific facts backing his claims. The author skillfully
integrates scientific facts into the artistic narrative. For example, Newton’s
laws of universal gravitation are well-known, and anyone familiar with
physics would understand Einstein and quantum mechanics.
2.Technological Innovations:
The work depicts advanced technologies,
space crafts, and the technological capabilities of extraterrestrials. Through
these depictions, the author reflects on how technology and science may
change human life in the future. In many parts of the work, it is clear that the
extraterrestrials have advanced far ahead of Earthlings in terms of science
and technology. Ahmad comes to realize this during his journey. However, we
also see that their technological advancements have caused an environmental
crisis on their planets, which serves as a cautionary tale about the need for
environmental protection.
There are also discussions about Isaac Newton, with Margol passing
through a time portal to meet the great scientist. These dialogues are filled
with scientific facts. The work also references Mirzo Ulugbek’s
“Ziji Jadidi
Ko‘ragoniy”
(New Astronomical Tables). The protagonist studies this book
with great dedication, relying on it to create his spacecraft and study
astronomy. He explains:
"–
Ziji Jadidi Ko'ragoniy
is an astronomical table compiled by the great
scientist Mirzo Ulugbek. This book was published in 1437. It contains
information on 1018 stars. I had to calculate the coordinates, size, mass,
gravitational force, and all other aspects of the planets based on this book.
Only after that could I solve the issue of maintaining balance in the
gravitational wave" [page 12].

The work does not limit science to technological aspects; it also
addresses humanity’s understanding of its place in the universe and its desire
to explore the cosmos. Through Ahmad’s interactions with other civilizations,
the work touches on universal human values and unity.
The harmony between scientific facts and artistic expression holds
significant importance in the work. Sa’dulla Quronov does not simply present
scientific knowledge as dry facts but conveys it through vivid descriptions and
adventurous plots. Through Ahmad's experiences, the author inspires readers
to take an interest in science and technology. For instance, when
extraterrestrials effectively use robot droids, the scientific approach is
presented in an artistic way. The characters name the droid "Moki" and treat
it like a companion, demonstrating the integration of scientific elements and
artistic storytelling.
Through the artistic interpretation of science, the author achieves
several
goals:
First, it popularizes scientific knowledge. The scientific events depicted in the
work spark interest in the cosmos, technology, and science among young
readers. Ahmad’s use of technology and scientific knowledge to solve complex
problems encourages the pursuit of knowledge. Furthermore, readers learn
through Ahmad’s interactions with extraterrestrials that the future of
humanity depends on scientific progress. The philosophy of self-awareness is
also evident in the work. Ahmad’s journey through space is a process of
discovering his inner world, which the author profoundly interprets, showing
that science is not only about external discoveries but also about
understanding oneself.
Conclusion:
In conclusion,
"A Day in the Galaxy"
is a unique artistic work where
scientific and fantastical elements are harmoniously interpreted. Sa’dulla
Quronov not only highlights the role and importance of science and technology
in human life through exciting adventures but also aims to popularize scientific
knowledge and encourage young readers to engage with science. The work
motivates readers to appreciate the infinite nature of the cosmos, the power of
technology, and the greatness of human intellect. Therefore, this work occupies
a significant place not only in Uzbek literature but also in the genre of science
fiction.
