Annotation.
Mixed ability classes with problematic learners are related to working
with students who have various levels of language proficiency, behaviors,
personalities, interests and errors. In teaching progress you can meet some students
who really need teacher's help. Sometimes they have some misunderstandings with
their behaviors, study or interests. Each student has the weakness, strength (which
they cannot show) fear or aggressiveness .However, in mixed ability classes where
some students will not even think about their future, life and career. Therefore, some
students can choose their own way, and some cannot, but choosing the right way
teachers will help to leaners to deal with them.
Key words:
Mixed-ability classes, a magic key, behaviors, challenging,
motivation.
There is one question "How to deal with challenging" Firstly, teachers are
psychologists, because they know what to do when students have some problems, or
even when you want to say something, but you do not know how to say, however,
teachers by looking into your eyes will feel what you are planning or want to say, they
know how to attack and solve each problem. For example, Carol Ann Tomlinson
wrote in her book “The Differentiated classroom”, that responding to the Needs of
learners, might be a little bit lazy in their study, therefore there is a magic key to open,
however, only teachers know where to find this key, and how to open this door.
Consequently, James Nugen wrote some solutions and gave some examples in his
book "Managing the Most Difficult Students", to use a needs analysis to students who

stand out with their character, stylish, experience, or some students who do not have
a main goal in her or his life. They do not know their main thing. For this reason, they
need that a magic key and feeling free with full of goals, dreams and the biggest one
they need motivation from someone. As an example, I can share with you one
interesting story. It was five years ago, when I was in fifth grade. That time our process
of studying at school was not so good, but I remember the day, which really helped us
to become leaders. If I say the truth, once we did not have any teachers from English,
for this reason, we had not even interest to English, however our director announced
us that soon we will have a teacher from English subject, who has studied in England.
Therefore, It was very interesting for me, but not for others, because as I said my
classmates were not even interested in English. For the time when I saw our English
teacher, she was very perfect and the most important side, which I really appreciated,
is confidence and believe in herself. As I understood at that time, it was her style to
be confident in every situation and motivate each student. The first lesson was very
entertaining and informative. She tried to attract each student with her: knowledge,
confidence, experience and helped us to believe ourselves. On the one hand, we had
students who did not want to respond and follow the rules of her lesson. It was really
horrible, because we did not want to miss our teacher and leave our brain without her
lessons. We were really scared, because some of us said that she will not come again,
and maybe she can leave her work. Fortunately, she came, and again her div was full
of conviction. As we understood, she thought over a plan for our passive students who
did not want to study and participate during the lesson. She prepared some games and
the whole lessons ninety nine percent of her attention was to our passive students, and
she made them participate and be active, she did a little bit presentation, during the
presentation she stopped and gave some questions, and I did not even catch, why every
seconds she paused the video and gave questions. Consequently, I wanted to ask
questions about her work and it was really interesting for me, why in presentation she
paused the video. I gave her questions (how did you do it , how you made them work
with you, how did you take our hearts to love you?) she said a little, but very useful:
71
•
experience: Your each step must be full with your experience and methods.
•
knowledge: If you have graduated university it does not mean that you are perfect
in something, you need to practice a lot.
•
love for work: If you start working somewhere, or you are planning your future
plans to work somewhere, the first thing that you need, to feel pleasure from this work,
than your work will give you satisfaction.
•
conviction: If you feel steadiness and quietness, everyone will think that you are the
expert one.
•
believe: You must believe in yourself, than everyone will start to believe in you.
I also get some information about students’ character. It was also surprising, but if you
follow the mentioned instructions, you can do it.
Needs analysis: There is some challenging with students and with their behavior.
•
Some of them would not study.
•
Some of them would not participate during the lesson.
•
Some of them would have some physical problems.
• Some of them would not have any goals and dreams to study somewhere.
Solution:
•
If you explain something for some students it is not entertaining and they do not
want to give their attention to this. You must make them hear and see your lesson with
attention, but how? During your lesson you can say "Students you must be very close,
because after the lesson, I will give you some questions, which is related to our topic.
•
If some students have not any interest in your lesson, do it more colorful, and plan
some games for students, which will be relate to your topic.
•
If some students have some physical problems with their study or with their
weakness. Teacher must motivate them always and give the right solution.
•
If some students have not goals, dreams, it will be a little bit hard, but t eachers can
solve this problem with giving them question:
" what will you do after graduation"
"what are you planning"
72
Students will fear, and you make them think about their future by giving your
questions.
