INTEGRATING EDUCATIONAL DRAMA IN TEACHING EFL

There is a continuous demand for innovative foreign language teaching approaches in current education system. The article discusses Educational drama as an effective method in developing foreign language (English) learners’ sociolinguistic competence. Theoretical and practical overview of the research will be presented to highlight the importance of the method.


In pedagogy, there are many advantages of the Educational drama method. Drama encourages students to acquire cognitive knowledge. As active learners, they not only receive information, but also develop creative thinking skills. Language teaching through drama creates intrinsic motivation (internal motivation) for students to learn the language. In drama classes, students learn to work with other students in collaboration, increase self-confidence, and begin to think critically listening to each other. Most importantly it enhances students’ cultural understanding of the target language.


In the article the implementation of the drama approach in secondary school EFL classroom in Uzbekistan will be described together with investigation and survey results. Theoretical value of the research will be provided supported by opinions of scholars of the field. Types of Educational drama, organizing drama lessons, managing the classroom and other peculiarities of drama approach will be explained.

THE INFLUENCE OF NOTE-TAKING ON LISTENING COMPREHENSION IN AN ACADEMIC CONTEXT

This small-scale research is intended to investigate the influence of note-taking on overall listening comprehension and memorization of main points of the content longer in academic context. The study was conducted with 28 third-year students of Translation Theory and Practice faculty, TSUULL. Data was collected using quantitative method and the results were analyzed statistically. The research findings indicate that there is an advantage in favor of the students who took notes while listening to lectures. Therefore, it is recommended to teach students how to take effective notes for increasing listening comprehension.

LEXICAL COLLOCATION ERRORS: MISCOLLOCATING IN PRE-SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT WRITING

In foreign language learning, second language learners as well as Native speakers commit mistakes in their attempt to achieve knowledge in the target language. It has been observed that most of the second language learners in this research group commit collocation mistakes. The purpose of the study is to understand the nature of made errors as stumbling blocks to  effective pre-Social Media Content  Writing. The objective of the investigation is to identify the errors, analyze their structural compositions so as to identify whether there are similarities between students in this regard and to find out whether there are patterns to these kinds of mistakes which will enable the researcher to understand their sources and causes. As a descriptive research, the researcher samples 120 post writing collected from 12 learners of English as a second language.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the main factors in obtaining a target result in the teaching of the topic in the classroom using interactive methods, to consider the positive features of Blum's taxonomy in the use of interactive methods, as well as the process of applying interactive methods in the correct interpretation of the line. Using interactive methods, the task of the research is to divide the scope of positive influence in the class into groups, to interpret each of them individually, and to consider the scope of influence by linking them to the teaching of military terms to students studying in the military. Another task is to highlight the teacher’s roles with separate comments in order to explain what kind of characters and skills the teacher should have in the process of using interactive methods.
