Abstract:
What is a family? As we see it in our country, what is the role of women in a
Muslim family? What traditions and customs does an Uzbek family have? And how we see
our Muslim families in comparison with families of other nationalities. Everyone has diffe-
rent ideas about it. And if we talk about our Uzbek family, it’s difficult.

INTRODUCTION
A family is a home, parental love, care, and understanding. The family is the
foundation on which all life is built. I think that in other states the family comes
first. For any person, regardless of nationality and mentality, the family is sacred!
It is in the family that the personality of a person, his character, morals, and habits
are formed. In the family, he receives education from his parents, it is from the
correct upbringing that his future fate depends on. It is very important to instill
positive qualities in a child, such as honesty, justice, devotion, compassion and
much more. Such positive qualities will be very useful to the child in adulthood.
For children to grow up educated parents need to make a lot of effort. First, they
themselves must possess such qualities, because children adopt everything from
their parents, and try to be like them in everything. It turns out that parents are
a kind of template for their children. Children cannot be raised in fear. Fear of
reproaches, swearing, or even assault, forces children to deceive their parents,
and this, as you know, is one of the worst qualities of a person. Therefore, it is
not necessary to punish the child immediately for any mistakes, misconduct, or
pranks. It is important to explain to him that this is not correct. It is also important
that parents are always in contact with their children so that the child trusts them
in everything so that in difficult times the child can calmly turn to his parents for
help. Only through trusting relationships can you build a strong and friendly fam-
ily. What role does a woman play in Uzbek families?
And if we consider Muslim families in our country, then it is especially difficult
for the female half of them. For a long time in Islam and among many other peo-
ples, a woman is considered the keeper of the hearth. She is a mother and wife
and sister and mentor. The happiness and peace of the family largely depend on

it. The upbringing of children also depends partly on the mother. It should instill in
the child such qualities as respect for elders, compassion for people in need, and
love for work because every person must work to achieve their goals. But there
are mothers who do not pay attention to their children and do not raise them,
there are those who abandon their children. But all woman plays a big role in the
family.
UZBEK TRADITIONS
If we talk about the traditions that Uzbek families have, then they are full. Let’s
start with men who pray, and go to Friday prayers, this has been going on for cen-
turies.
In Uzbek families, we also have women who also perform namaz, and pray for
their relatives. In many Uzbek families, women are covered in the so-called “Xijob”.
But women are not allowed to go to mosques, only men.
National clothes: We also have national clothes, and dishes that are very well-
known in many other cities. We have national clothes called “Atlas” and “Adras”.
Such national clothes are worn by young daughters-in-law after the wedding,
and these national clothes are also worn on national holidays like “Navroz”, “Mus-
taqillik”. Different evening dresses are also sewn from “Atlas” and “Adras”. Many of
them are kept in museums. They are very beautiful and varied
Uzbek cuisine: If we talk about dishes, Uzbek cuisine is very diverse. The menu
consists of the most important dish – pilaf, then there is Norin, somsa, xalim, chuch-
vara, and so on. During the holiday “Navroz” we prepare “Sumalak” and “Xalim”
which is very well known in our country. We also have bread, we call them “Patir”
which in Russian is called Lepeshki. Our cuisine is very tasty and if you go to post
Tashkent, be sure to try our various dishes.
Hospitality. Hospitality is very common in the Uzbek family. In general, Uzbeks
are very polite, and kind, and they are always glad to see guests, even though they
came without an invitation. Not to receive a guest or to accept him badly, not ob-
serving traditions, meant to disgrace the family, village, or clan. The custom pre-
scribed to render hospitality even to the enemy. No wonder the old proverb said:
“Hospitality is higher than courage”. In our time, the laws of hospitality have turned
into good and useful traditions that help in the mutual communication and behavior
of people.
What can we say about Uzbek weddings? The wedding is also considered the
main point of the tradition. A wedding and everything connected with it is a great
event in the life of every clan, every family. Uzbek weddings are distinguished by
their special scope and many traditional rituals.
A wedding day itself begins with a festive pilaf for two related families, it is
cooked in the groom’s house, and then part of the congratulations is sent to the
bride’s family. Before the start of the ceremony, the young people are put on ‘Sar-
po‘ – national wedding clothes, usually richly decorated and embroidered with gold.
As soon as the bride crosses the threshold of a new house, in fact, the fun begins.
Up to 200–300 guests gather at festive, richly laid tables. Noise, laughter, songs,
and dances – all without which no wedding in the world can do. The wedding is nec-
essarily preceded by the engagement “Fatiha toyi”. On the appointed day, guests
gather in the house of the betrothed girl. After the matchmakers state the purpose

of their visit, the rite “Non sindirish” – “Breaking the cake” is performed and the
wedding day is arranged. The bride’s relatives present gifts to the groom’s relatives
and matchmakers. From that moment on, the young are considered engaged. The
next morning after the wedding, the rite “Kelin salomi” begins, which means the ac-
ceptance of the bride into a new family. The groom’s parents, relatives, and friends
bless the bride and give her gifts, and she greets everyone, bowing low.
These are the main family rituals and customs, which to this day are of great
importance for Uzbek families. They continue to adhere to this day, despite many
trends of our time.
