Abstract.

The article examines and analyzes recreational opportunities for the development of

settlements in the mountainous areas of the Jizzakh region. Recreation and its proper organization
in certain areas with special conditions such as mountains and foothills have a number of
individual criteria and opportunities. Therefore, settlements in these areas are the bases for
organizing and developing recreational activities and constructing recreational and health
facilities in these areas.

Key words:

recreation, mountainous and foothill areas, settlements, natural conditions,

tourism.

The mountainous areas of the Jizzakh region have great recreational potential. The

Chumkortog, Zomin, Molguzar, Nurota ridges and the plains, streams, springs and mountain forests
between them create unique natural landscapes and create a very favorable environment for human
health. The sanatorium built in the Zomin district is famous in the republic and serves to develop
tourism along with the treatment of various diseases. The Nurata-Kyzylkum Biosphere Reserve was
created in the Forish district, where the Nurata ridge is located, and this process is aimed at
protecting natural processes and phenomena along with the formation of a new way of life for the
population. The recreational potential of the mountainous areas of the Bakhmal, Gallaorol and Sh.
Rashidov districts is not fully developed. Unregulated recreation of these territories is a permanent
phenomenon, which, in turn, causes great damage to the nature of the territories [2].

Emphasizing that the prospects for the development of settlements in mountainous areas

depend on changes in natural conditions and resource potential, giving new directions to such
dependence is the only way to positively solve the problem.

Defining the development of settlements in mountainous areas in accordance with natural

conditions and resources has the following stages:

Strengthening measures to protect nature in mountainous areas;

Demarcation of protected areas;

Formation of the necessary infrastructure in protected and recreational areas;

Create an opportunity to form types of international tourist destinations by region;

Organization of the process of transferring the lifestyle of the population from the

direction of using natural resources to the direction of providing services;

Formation and development of service and tourist-recreational infrastructure in cities in

mountainous areas;

Classification and specialization of settlements in mountainous areas by types of

recreational services.

To implement these measures, it is necessary to constantly influence and make changes to the

lifestyle and economic activity of the population. Therefore, this process can take a long time, but
environmental protection and social development of the population justify the time and money
spent. When coordinating calculations with such stages, it is necessary to pay attention to a number
of natural and economic-social factors. The specifics of the stages influence and coordinate the
formation of settlements to varying degrees. It is impossible to completely free protected natural
areas from the consequences of ahoy, and a sharp increase in protection measures will complicate
the lifestyle of the population. That is why it is important to clearly define the boundaries of
protected areas and the regional organization of protection measures [3]. In such cases, it is
necessary to ensure the interest of the population itself in nature protection. Participation of the
population in nature protection activities is equivalent to providing financial support. Ensuring the
interest of the population in the protection of natural areas becomes permanent due to the
organization of infrastructure for servicing territories that are under strict protection and can be used
for recreational purposes.

Today, international tourist destinations appear in various forms. Particularly eco-oriented

types of tourism have great potential in the mountainous and foothill areas of the Jizzakh region.
For example, ethnographic tourism, agro tourism routes, natural landscapes and natural processes
that are penetrating our country today are the most optimal way of introducing and providing
services of environmentally friendly forms of tourism, developing settlements in the mountainous
areas of the region. The formation of ecotourism shifts the lifestyle of the population from the
traditional direction of animal husbandry and agriculture to the direction of providing services,
which ensures the lifestyle and cultural development of the population [1]. The main requirement of
this stage is to ensure that the traditions, customs and ethnographic features of the inhabitants of
mountainous regions are displayed in such a way as to interest representatives of other countries.
The main way to prepare the population for a new way of life is the continuous construction of
recreation centers, tourist centers, small hotels, service stations in settlements and villages
transferred to urban status in mountainous areas [4]. The formation of responsibility of the
population for the nature of the territory in which they live is carried out through the introduction of
legal norms for the rational use of natural resources.

Conclusion.

Classification of settlements located in mountainous areas by recreational and

service types is the last stage of settlement development. This includes specialization of settlements
by types and directions of fully formed recreational and tourist services. As a result of the
implementation of this stage, the focus of production and service maintenance of settlements in
mountainous regions will be ensured and their place in international tourism practice will appear. It
should be noted that the development of ecotourism routes has full potential in mountainous and
foothill regions. Unlike traditional tourism, ecotourism areas require not only the presence of
natural beauty, flora and fauna, and water bodies. For example, agrotourism is aimed at learning
about the working conditions of rural residents and the traditions associated with rural labor, and
living in these living conditions for some time. At the same time, it is necessary to openly show all
aspects of the lifestyle of the local population. The agro tourist wants to experience the life of a
shepherd or gardener and pays for it. Considering that the mountainous regions of the Jizzakh
region have enormous natural potential, the main criterion for the development of settlements in the
mountainous regions is to preserve these territories in their natural state and at the same time
improve the living conditions of the population.
