IMPORTANCE OF ANTIAGGREGANT DRUGS IN CARDIOVASCULAR
DISEASES

Abstract. Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents eliminate or reduce the risk of blood clots.
They are often called blood thinners, but these drugs do not actually thin the blood. Instead, they
help prevent or destroy dangerous blood clots that form in the blood vessels or heart. If left
untreated, these clots can block circulation and lead to a heart attack or stroke. Both antiplatelet
agents and anticoagulants prevent the formation of blood clots in blood vessels, but they work in
different ways. Antiplatelets prevent platelets from binding or the process that causes blood clots
to form.

ЗНАЧЕНИЕ АНТИАГРЕГАНТНЫХ ПРЕПАРАТОВ ПРИ СЕРДЕЧНО-
СОСУДИСТЫХ ЗАБОЛЕВАНИЯХ.
Аннотация. Антикоагулянты и антиагреганты устраняют или снижают риск
образования тромбов. Их часто называют препаратами, разжижающими кровь, но на
самом деле эти препараты не разжижают кровь. Вместо этого они помогают
предотвратить или уничтожить опасные тромбы, которые образуются в кровеносных
сосудах или сердце. Если их не лечить, эти сгустки могут блокировать кровообращение и
привести к сердечному приступу или инсульту. И антиагреганты, и антикоагулянты
предотвращают образование тромбов в кровеносных сосудах, но действуют по-разному.
Антиагреганты предотвращают связывание тромбоцитов или процесс, вызывающий
образование тромбов.

Anticoagulants interfere with proteins in the blood that are involved in blood clotting.
These proteins are called factors. Different anticoagulants interact with different factors to prevent
blood clotting.
List of anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents
There are many anticoagulants, including:
heparin
warfarin (coumadin)
rivaroxaban (Xarelto)
dabigatran (pradaxa)
apixaban (Eliquis)
edoxaban (Savaisa)
enoxaparin (Lovenox)
fondaparinux (Arixtra)
Common antiplatelet agents include:
clopidogrel (Plavix)
ticagrelor (Brilinta)
prasugrel (effective)
dipyridamole
dipyridamole/aspirin (Aggrenox)
ticlopidine (ticlid)
eptifibatide (integrilin)
Importance of antiaggregants for the heart.
If you have one or more of the following conditions, your doctor may recommend an
anticoagulant or antiplatelet drug. Each of these can cause blood to pool in the blood vessels, which
can lead to blood clots:
heart disease
circulatory problems
abnormal heartbeat
congenital heart disease
If you have had heart valve surgery, your doctor may prescribe one of these medications.

If you take warfarin, you will have regular blood tests called the international normalized
ratio (INR). The results will help your doctor determine whether the drug is at the right level in
your div. If you are taking other medications, your doctor may perform other tests.
Side effects and risks
There are side effects associated with anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs, some of which
can be serious. Contact your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms while taking
anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications:
increased bruising
red or pink urine
stool with blood or looks like coffee grounds
more bleeding than usual during menstruation
purple toes
pain, temperature changes, or dark spots in the fingers, toes, hands, or feet
Because of the side effects of these types of medications, some people are at increased risk
of complications when using them. Some people should not use them at all. Talk to your doctor if
you have bleeding disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure, balance problems, congestive heart
failure, liver or kidney problems. Warfarin may increase the risk of complications from these
conditions. Do not take warfarin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This can increase the risk of
fetal death and harm your baby.
Follow these tips to stay healthy and safe while taking any of these medications:
Tell all of your health care providers that you are taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs
or other medications.
Make sure you wear an ID bracelet.
Avoid sports and other activities that may cause injury. Your div can make it harder to
stop bleeding or clot normally.
If you are considering surgery or certain dental procedures, talk to your doctor. This can
put you at risk of bleeding that is difficult to stop. Your doctor may recommend that you stop
taking antiplatelet drugs or anticoagulants before and after the procedure.
