This article highlights the specific role and importance of

ensuring peace and cooperation in the current complex international situation.

Keywords:

religious extremism, fundamentalism, universal human values,

destructive ideology, corruption, development.

In the modern world, international relations are becoming increasingly

complex and unpredictable. Geopolitical competition, armed conflicts,
ideological extremism, economic inequality, and climate-related disasters have
created a fragile global environment. These challenges are not limited to
national borders - they affect all of humanity and require a unified, cooperative
response. In such a situation, ensuring peace and developing cooperation
between peoples is not just an idealistic aspiration, but an urgent and practical
necessity. Today, global peace is threatened by many crises. From ongoing
conflicts in various regions to the spread of terrorism and cyber threats, the
international community faces many security risks. In addition, the situation is
further complicated by the widening gap between developed and developing
countries, the unfair distribution of resources, and the loss of trust in global
institutions.

“In the current complex international situation, including the growing

threat of religious extremism and fundamentalism, it is becoming a vital
necessity to shape the minds and worldviews of young people, and to prevent
their hearts from being taken over by foreign views and ideologies”. Foreign
ideologies, often disseminated through digital platforms and targeted
propaganda, are aimed at influencing vulnerable minds, especially young people.
These ideologies can cause confusion, promote radicalism, and ultimately
disconnect young people from their cultural and moral roots. Therefore, one of
the most urgent tasks for educators, politicians, and community leaders is to
ensure that young people have the ability to think critically, have strong moral
values, and a deep understanding of their heritage and traditions. Societies can
help protect the hearts and minds of young people from the influence of harmful
ideas by promoting education that emphasizes tolerance, respect for diversity,
and civic responsibility. Most importantly, fostering national pride, a sense of
identity, and a sense of purpose in young people serves as a strong barrier
against extremist influences. In this era of rapid globalization and information

exchange, it is necessary to consider the minds of our youth as the most valuable
asset to protect and educate. Only through conscious, coordinated efforts can we
ensure a peaceful, secure and culturally rich future.

In the words of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, today, when various

disagreements and conflicts are escalating worldwide and threats to our
peaceful life and unity are increasing, “it is of particular importance to further
unite our multinational and multi-confessional society and to raise the sense of
respect for universal human values among our youth”. In today's world, we are
witnessing a terrifying increase in global tensions, ideological conflicts, and
social fragmentation. The escalation of various disagreements and
contradictions around the world poses a serious threat to the peaceful life,
stability, and unity of many nations. In such conditions, Uzbekistan is committed
to maintaining harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect in its society. Uzbekistan
has a rich mosaic of ethnic groups, cultures, and religions. This diversity is not a
challenge, but a great asset. However, in a situation where the influence of
foreign ideologies, some of which promote division, radicalism, and extremism,
is increasing, it is becoming a vital necessity to firmly shape the worldview of
our youth based on our national values and universal human principles.
Educational institutions, the media, families, and public organizations play an
important role in this process. Schools should go beyond technical education
and instill moral thinking, critical analysis, and appreciation of cultural heritage.
It is necessary to educate young people not only as qualified specialists, but also
as responsible citizens who understand the value of peace, justice, and
solidarity.

Particular attention should be paid to preventing ideological vulnerability.

With the expansion of social media and digital communication, harmful
narratives can spread rapidly and affect impressionable minds. To counter this,
we need to create an environment that instills in young people a deep sense of
identity, pride in their identity, and confidence in their future. In addition, the
development of interfaith dialogue and intercultural understanding among
young people strengthens the foundations of tolerance. Respect for others,
regardless of religion, nationality, or origin, must be instilled in all aspects of
social life. Ultimately, the task of building a peaceful and progressive society
begins with the hearts and minds of our youth. They are the future guardians of
our values, defenders of our solidarity, and the architects of tomorrow's
Uzbekistan.

In this regard, President Mirziyoyev’s vision offers not only guidance, but

also a national mission – to unite, educate and inspire the future generation to
support the ideals of peace, respect and common humanity. “History shows that
a destructive ideology, forced to make concessions to scientific knowledge to a
certain extent and for a certain time, to share with it the rule over the hearts of
people, eventually returns to its claim to monopolization and, ultimately,
embarks on the path of corruption, ignorance and depravity, not objectivity,
science and impartiality”. Totalitarian regimes have often used scientific rhetoric
to legitimize their power, but they have also censored scientific work that
contradicts their ideological narrative. In many cases, scientists have been
silenced, persecuted, or manipulated to support harmful policies. Ideology has
turned away from enlightenment, seeking absolute power, and has fallen into
corruption and dogma. This regression does not lead to social progress - it
breeds corruption, suppresses critical thinking, and fosters ignorance. Over time,
societies dominated by such ideologies have suffered not only intellectual
stagnation but also moral decay. When truth is not based on facts but is dictated
by ideology, justice becomes arbitrary, innovation is stifled, and human dignity
is diminished. That is why it is so important to be vigilant. Societies must protect
the independence of science, promote critical thinking among young people, and
ensure that no ideology – no matter how convincing it may seem – monopolizes
truth or stifle free thought. Only by maintaining a clear line between belief and
evidence, ideology and knowledge, can we protect the future from repeating the
mistakes of the past.

Philosopher Sadulla Otamurodov emphasizes that “globalization, on the one

hand, is a positive process, as it is a new stage in the development of the
intellectual potential of humanity, and on the other hand, it is a negative process
that leads to the dependence of developing and less developed nations on highly
developed nations”. On the one hand, globalization facilitates the rapid exchange
of knowledge, technological innovation, and cultural interaction, contributing to
the overall development of human civilization. It allows ideas, information, and
experiences to cross borders more freely than ever before, creating
opportunities for growth and cooperation. As global power structures favor
developed countries, less developed countries may find themselves increasingly
dependent on economically, technologically, and even culturally richer,
industrialized countries. This dependence can hinder real development, erode
cultural identity, and perpetuate global inequality. In such circumstances,

resource flows and influence are often one-sided, reinforcing existing
hierarchies rather than creating a truly just global community.

In short, peace and cooperation are the foundations of global stability and

human progress. In today’s interconnected world, no country can achieve
sustainable development on its own. Through dialogue, solidarity and the
adoption of mutual respect, the international community can overcome common
challenges and build a safer, more just and more harmonious future for all. The
path to peace is not without obstacles, but it remains the only path that can
guarantee the long-term prosperity and security of humanity
