THE INFLUENCE OF HISTORICAL CONTEXT ON THE THEMES OF WAR IN WORLD WAR I POETRY

Hasan Nassif Jassim, Maytham Obada

Poems written during World Military I provide light on the conflict's psychological, emotional, and social effects by reflecting the close relationship between historical background and military themes. World War I, with its unprecedented use of mechanized combat and massive casualties, provided poets with a historical context that significantly impacted their portrayal of the conflict. As a result of the horrors of trench warfare, the loss of youth, and the doubting of nationalistic principles, writers such as Rupert Brooke, Siegfried Sassoon, and Wilfred Owen became increasingly skeptical and disillusioned with their earlier levels of patriotism. Topics covered include the emotional toll on soldiers, the brutality of battle, and the exaltation of sacrifice, all impacted by the historical context of the Great War. Poems serve as both memorials and critiques of the war experience, and this research emphasizes the significance of poetry in this process through textual analysis of essential poems. Thus, it sheds light on poetry's more significant cultural and historical role during World War I in influencing public recollection and comprehension of the conflict.

FEATURES OF THE MECHANISMS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING INDIVIDUALLY AND IN SMALL GROUPS

S. Z. Makhmudova

Psychological counseling is the process of helping an individual in search of resolution for his difficulties adjust to the demands of life situations and make adequate decisions. Adjustment should be voluntary and painless for the client. Psychological counseling should not be confused with therapeutic intervention, in which the individual is supposed to return to a normal condition after being under stress due to negative changes in his life situation. Instead of changing the condition of the individual, counseling focuses on the efforts to ensure harmonious matching of the individual’s level of functioning with age-appropriate requirements. In this sense, counseling is a frontier between psychotherapy and pedagogical intervention. The concept of the counseling mechanism is popular in studies of educational, social, and psychological counseling. It includes features of individuals, conditions, and processes that define the role of counseling in bringing about changes in personal development and behavior. The content of mechanisms reflects the structure and functional aspects of a phenomenon under study, the latter being viewed as a system. Psychological counseling is a complex multi-level system reflecting various social, psychological, and personal relations. In broad terms, it includes a subject, object, conditions, and processes of interaction between the counseling agent and the counseling recipient.

Multiple approaches may be employed to conduct psychological counseling. They will be reviewed and analyzed here in regard to their psychological basis and the features of their application. Three of the most significant approaches are the psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and humanistic. Significant attention is focused on the first two approaches since they are the most popular in the perspective of the countries of the former Soviet Union.

As a basis of the psychodynamic approach, the role of the unconscious is emphasized, and it utilizes defense mechanisms. Numerous psychotherapeutic techniques are developed, mainly of a verbal nature, designed to bring the unconscious content of conflicts and desires into consciousness. These techniques are used both in monological and dialogical forms. An essential part of the dialogical techniques is free association, and a key monological technique is interpretation. The clinical terminology of the psychodynamic approach is extensive and systematically elaborated, including concepts of conflict, drive, impulse, symptom, resistance, transference, counter-transference, interpretation, regret, and gloom. All these concepts were created on the basis of clinical observations of various forms of behavior of subjects and are logically organized in the theory of personality.

INFLUENCE OF PSYCHOPATHIC QUALITIES OF PARENTS ON MENTAL DISORDERS IN CHILDREN

Askarova Nargiza Abdivaliyevna

The ability of a newborn to quickly adapt to the demands of parents leads to the fact that the child's needs for love, respect, responsiveness, understanding, participation, and sympathy are often repressed into the unconscious. The same can be said about emotional reactions to situations fraught with grave consequences, in which the child is deprived of something vital. As a result, a person, both in childhood and adulthood, is deprived of many emotional experiences such as jealousy, anger, envy, feelings of loneliness and helplessness, and fear.

THE LEGAL STATUS OF THE FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER OF THE IRAQI COUNCIL OF REPRESENTATIVES

Dr. Haider Rasool Mohsen Al-Kaabi

The legal status of the First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, or as it is called (member of the Presidency), is considered one of the essential sovereign positions in the structure of the government system due to its impact on decision-making, whether in the legislative, administrative or even political aspects. Despite this, the texts regulating this position were ambiguous and unclear, in addition to the lack of a unified direction in the directions of the Federal Supreme Court in this direction. Also, defining the tasks and duties of the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives is essential, especially in cases where the presence of the president is impossible, as he is the one who replaces him in this case.

The lack of studies in this aspect also made us search for it to clarify the tasks and duties of this crucial sovereign position. Therefore, we studied the legal status of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in terms of the conditions for nomination and election and his role in the legislative and administrative aspects of the House of Representatives. Then, we provided a set of results and recommendations that will benefit researchers in the field of specialization.

A SEMIOTIC STUDY OF CARICATURE: THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN AMERICA AND CHINA

Asst.Lect. Sundus Hussein Allawi

Visual communication is a compound process, which requires broad knowledge of semiotics. Semiotics is the education of signs and symbols. In what way these signs and symbols are interpreted is studied under semiotics. It has many concealed signs and connotations, for example: brand name, logo, package design, color, punch line and trade mark, etc.

The present study presents one of the most significant philosophies and replicas of visual social semiotics, namely, Kress and van Leeuwen’s "Grammar of Visual Design". It involves the description of semiotic resources, what can be said and done with images (and other visual means of communication) and how things people say and do with images can be interpreted. Thus, the communicative values of signs in a caricature are a portrait with the volume turned up. A caricature is a painting, or more commonly a picture, of an object or item in which the characteristics and structure have been blurred and exaggerated to ridicule or satirize the topic. Thus the current study aims at studying some caricatures nonverbally through analyzing the image and colours of it.

The study tackles semiotics; specifically social semiotics, caricature, the elements of analyzing caricature, which are: image, word, and colour. The first part carries on the introduction of the current study as well as tackling the problem of the study, the literature review of semiotics in general and social semiotics in particular. The second part carries on the data and its analysis through the model, as well as the visual results, finally, giving the conclusion.

THE EFFECT OF COLOUR-CODING ON LEARNING ENGLISH SENTENCE STRUCTURE

Ahmed Jamil Sulaiman Al Dulaimy

Colour carries a psychologically relevant meaning, and the colours we see affect our psychological performance. Colour-coding impacts learners’ cognitive processing as material-oriented interventions in multimedia learning. For educational purposes, colours can be used to stimulate neural activity, allowing pupils to learn, memorize, and retain new information more efficiently. Especially for those who are visual learners, the brighter the colours are, the more they are able to capture the attention for particular types of information. (Elliot and Maier: 2012).

Colour-Coding Strategy can help pupils make connections, gain knowledge and have a positive impact on attention inside the classroom. So it is not a kind of fun. Using such a strategy in teaching and learning grammar can be as simple as just asking your pupils to take out their booklets and colouring pens and markers.

The current research focuses on determining the effectiveness of using colour-coding as a better tool for learning sentence structure at the primary level.

In light of the aim, the research’s null hypothesis has been formulated to be tested. The design of one group has been adopted, pre and post-tests used. The sample includes (32) female pupils who are randomly selected from Qubat Al Sakhrah primary school in Mosul city.
