Interactive Methods For Working With Alalia Speech Disorder

S.M. Voxobova

Alalia, a neurogenic speech disorder characterised by a profound delay or absence of expressive and/or receptive language, presents a complex challenge for speech-language pathologists and special-needs educators. Traditional drill-based correction tends to neglect the socio-cognitive underpinnings of language acquisition, limiting long-term generalisation. This study investigates how interactive methods—defined as dialogic, game-mediated, and technology-supported interventions—facilitate neural and behavioural plasticity in children aged 4 to 7 diagnosed with motor or sensory alalia. Drawing on socio-cultural theory and contemporary neurolinguistic models, the research employs a mixed-method, embedded-design study across two clinical centres in Tashkent and Namangan. Quantitative analysis of the adapted Preschool Language Scale (PLS-5) and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT-4) demonstrates statistically significant improvements in expressive vocabulary, syntactic complexity, and pragmatic turn-taking compared with a matched control cohort receiving conventional therapy. Qualitative micro-analysis of therapy video transcripts reveals that multimodal feedback loops, peer scaffolding, and augmented-reality prompts jointly create a “linguistic playground” in which children rehearse—and automatise—core speech acts. The discussion integrates these findings within a neuroconstructivist framework, arguing that interactive methods not only accelerate cortical language network activation but also nurture socio-emotional competence critical for sustainable communicative growth. The article concludes with recommendations for curriculum designers, clinicians, and policy makers seeking to embed interactive paradigms in early intervention programmes.

Methodology for The Use of Immersive Technologies in Biology Education

Ergasheva Gulrukhsor Surkhonidinovna

Immersive technologies—virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR)—are increasingly presented as transformative tools for science education, yet systematic guidelines for their pedagogical integration remain scarce. The present study conceptualises, implements and evaluates a methodology for embedding immersive environments into undergraduate biology courses at two Uzbek universities. Drawing on constructivist and cognitive-affective theories, an instructional model consisting of pre-immersion framing, guided exploration, collaborative synthesis and reflective debriefing was designed. Over a sixteen-week semester, 118 first-year students followed identical curricular content either through traditional laboratory demonstrations or through the devised immersive sequences featuring interactive 3-D cell biology, ecological field simulations and virtual dissection modules. A mixed-methods approach combined a concept-mapping test, delayed transfer tasks, eye-tracking analytics and semi-structured interviews to examine conceptual accuracy, knowledge retention, cognitive load and affective engagement. Results show that students experiencing immersive instruction achieved significantly higher scores in elaborative concept connections and long-term transfer without incurring detrimental extraneous load. Eye-tracking patterns indicated deeper spatial reasoning, while interviews reflected elevated motivation and perceived authenticity. The findings support the efficacy of a structured, theory-informed methodology that positions VR/AR as a complement rather than a novelty, emphasising scaffolding, social dialogue and critical reflection. The article concludes with design principles and implications for curriculum policy in developing contexts seeking to modernise biology teaching.

How Small Group Discussions Can Improve Spoken Discourse Competence

Saxiyeva Nodira Bahtiyor qizi

Many students find it hard to understand complex texts. To help with this, we carried out a year-long study using a method called Quality Talk in two fourth-grade classrooms. This approach involves small-group discussions led by the teacher, with the goal of improving both basic reading skills and deeper, more thoughtful understanding of what students read. As the year went on, we noticed some important changes. Teachers began stepping back during discussions, allowing students to take the lead. At the same time, students started to think more deeply—offering detailed explanations and exploring different ideas together. We also saw meaningful improvements in their reading test scores, especially when it came to understanding texts on both basic and advanced levels. These results suggest that structured small-group conversations can be a powerful way to help students grow as readers and thinkers.

The Physiological Importance of Sleep and Its Impact on Brain Development in Preschool-Aged Children

Anvarov Furqatjon

Adequate sleep in the preschool period (3–6 years) is increasingly recognised as a biological requirement for optimal neurodevelopment. Insufficient sleep—whether from curtailed nocturnal duration or fragmented napping—has been linked to alterations in cortical thickness, synaptic pruning, executive-function maturation and later behavioural outcomes. The present study addresses a gap in Central Asian paediatric sleep research by (i) synthesising recent global evidence and (ii) presenting original data from an observational cohort in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. One hundred and forty-two healthy preschoolers were followed for nine months with actigraphy, polysomnography-validated home EEG caps, salivary cortisol assays and magnetic-resonance-based morphometry. Multilevel regression showed that every 30-minute nightly sleep deficit relative to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine guideline predicted a 2.3 % reduction in prefrontal cortical volume (β = -0.47, p < 0.01), attenuated spindle density and slower executive-function gains on the Dimensional Change Card Sort. Daytime naps mitigated 38 % of the structural variance. The data confirm international reports that neuroplastic processes in early childhood are sleep-dependent and suggest culturally adapted sleep-education programmes are warranted.

Fostering Higher-Order Thinking Skills in ESL Classrooms Through Ai-Supported Writing Tasks

Jurayeva Zuhra

The rapid diffusion of generative artificial-intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT is reshaping language-learning ecologies. While early adopters have focused on gains in fluency and accuracy, a more compelling pedagogical question is whether AI can cultivate higher-order thinking skills (HOTS)—analysis, evaluation and creative synthesis—in English as a Second Language (ESL) learners. The present study examines an intervention in which undergraduate ESL students completed a sequence of argumentative and reflective writing tasks mediated by an AI co-writer that provided dynamic scaffolding, metacognitive prompts and automated discourse analysis. Grounded in Bloom’s revised taxonomy and socio-constructivist learning theory, the mixed-methods design combined quasi-experimental pre- and post-testing with thematic analysis of learner journals. Quantitative results showed statistically significant improvements (p < 0.05) in students’ HOTS rubric scores compared with a control group engaged in traditional peer-review cycles. Qualitative data revealed heightened metalinguistic awareness and strategic risk-taking in idea development. The findings suggest that, when carefully orchestrated, AI-supported writing can transcend mere linguistic assistance and become a catalyst for deeper cognitive processing. Pedagogical implications and design principles for AI-enhanced assessments that preserve academic integrity are discussed.
