Abstract:

The article “The Correlation of Word and Tone” analyzes the relationship between

music and literary art. This work teaches how the harmony of words and melody enhances the

aesthetic and psychological impact of art and how it works as complementary elements in music

and poetry. The article widely covers the issues of the status of Uzbek art, folk musical traditions

and the relationship of words and tones in modern music. It is shown that the relationship

between the rhythmic-melodic structure of the word and the spiritual content of music has

important pedagogical and aesthetic significance. The article presents scientific and practical

approaches that serve to shape the mental state of artists and listeners through the combination of

music and literature.

Key words:

word, melody, harmony, art, aesthetics, psychology, music, poetry, elements, status,

people, traditions.

The relationship between music and literature has played an important role in the aesthetic and

spiritual development of humanity for centuries. In particular, the harmony (proportion) of words

and melody is of unique importance in art. The harmony of words and melody is of particular

importance not only in musical performance, but also in poetry. In Uzbek classical music,

especially in the framework of maqom art and folk music traditions, the harmony of words and

melody is one of the most important factors that directly affects the performance and the psyche

of the listener.

This article provides a more in-depth analysis of the harmony of words and melody, the

influence of music and poetry on each other, and the harmony of musical and poetic expression.

It also examines the specific features of this harmony in the context of traditional music and

literature of Uzbekistan.

The harmony of words and melody is understood as the correspondence between the content of

the word and the melody of the music. Both create a certain feeling, mood or imagination by

influencing the human psyche. The musical expression of the word can strengthen its meaning,

theme and structure, especially in music, where the word and melody form a single whole. This

connection is further strengthened by the complementarity and connection of music and poetry.

The methods of expression in music and literature have always been close to each other. Musical

melodies and words cooperate in conveying certain emotions. In music, the movement, rhythm,

dynamics and timbre of the melody emphasize the meaning of the word, while, conversely, the

meaning of the word shapes the melody of the music. This interaction between music and words

is often observed in musical drama or in genres such as opera.

In literature, the harmony of words and melody is theoretically described as the harmony

between poetry and music. In poetry, the rhythmic structure of words, vocal melodies, and the

influence of melody on musical rhythms are important. Thus, the harmony between words and

music is related to the expression of poetry through music and vice versa, the influence of poetry

through music.

The harmony of words and melody occupies a special place in Uzbek music. Uzbek classical

music, especially the forms of maqom and folk music, is based on the harmony of words and

melody. In the art of maqom, each melody, each musical phrase has its own poetic basis, and

there is a direct connection between words and music. This connection creates a unity between

the musical performer and the listener, increasing the emotional impact of the music.

In the art of maqom, the harmony of words and melody mainly bases the rhythmic and melodic

structure of the musical work on a certain meaning. Musical phrases expressing poetry in a

maqom work enhance a certain emotional feeling, mood or theme. For example, the harmony

between melody and words in Uzbek maqoms often leads readers and listeners to a deep spiritual

experience. This is the harmony of expression, similar to the harmony that encompasses music

and words in traditional styles.

In the Uzbek folk musical tradition, especially in maqom, words and melody complement each

other perfectly. Only through a unique melody and content does folk music express its national

traditions, customs and spirituality. In folk music, the rhythm, melody, and pitch of the music

help to convey the meaning of the words clearly and effectively. In Uzbek folk songs, for

example, in genres such as "yalla" or "terma", the harmony of words and melody is expressed to

a high degree.

The harmony of words and melody is closely related not only to the relationship between music

and poetry, but also to the psychological and aesthetic perception of a person. The reader or

listener perceives music and words as a whole, and the harmony of these two elements affects his

inner world.

Music and words together form the emotional state of the listener. For example, in dramatic

works or in the harmony of love, sadness and happiness, emotions are felt more through the

harmony of music and words. The mood of the reader changes depending on the melody of the

music and the spiritual basis of the word. Therefore, the harmony of words and melody,

aesthetically speaking, creates a unique and individual experience for each performer and listener.

From an aesthetic point of view, the harmony of words and melodies increases the aesthetic

value of music. Words and musical melodies in poetry complement each other, creating a more

aesthetic understanding and feeling. The meaning of the word is expressed more fully and deeply

through the melodic line and rhythm of music.

In modern music and literature, the harmony of words and melody has found its new approaches

and forms. In many cases, the connection between words and music is manifested in modern

music in the form of a synthesis, in which music and words are expressed in mutually reinforcing

roles. In our time, the harmony of words and melody is also of great importance in genres such

as pop, rock and rap music.

In modern music performance, words and music, on the contrary, may often not be compatible

with each other. However, this situation is used to create new forms and experiences of modern

music. Therefore, today the harmony of words and melody serves the development of musical

genres and styles.
