Abstract:
The article considers the problem of formation of volitional qualities in high school
students in the process of physical education. Particular attention is paid to the importance of will
in the personal development of adolescents, its influence on their educational activities, social
adaptation and preparation for adult life. The main components of volitional qualities, such as
dedication, persistence, self-control and determination, are determined, and the mechanisms of
their formation are considered.
The pedagogical conditions contributing to the development of will are analyzed, including the
use of special physical education methods aimed at forming resistance to physical and
psychological stress. Modern methods and technologies are presented, such as the method of
overcoming difficulties, the competitive method, methods of self-control and self-regulation,
game technologies, as well as their practical implementation in educational and extracurricular
activities.
The results of the study confirm the effectiveness of including the volitional component in the
physical education system, which contributes to the formation of qualities in high school students
necessary for successful self-realization in various spheres of life. The article offers practical
recommendations for teachers, allowing them to purposefully develop the volitional qualities of
schoolchildren through physical activity and sports exercises.

Introduction. Modern conditions of education and upbringing require from schoolchildren not
only a high level of knowledge, but also developed personal qualities, among which will
occupies a special place [1, 3, 4]. Willpower plays a key role in overcoming difficulties,
achieving goals and forming a successful personality. Lack of developed willpower can lead to
decreased motivation, self-doubt and inability to cope with life’s challenges. In this regard,
targeted development of willpower in the educational process is of particular importance [2, 5].
Physical education is one of the most effective areas for the formation of willpower, since it
includes overcoming physical and psychological stress, working on oneself and interacting with
others [6]. Regular physical education and sports help teenagers develop determination,
perseverance, self-control and determination, which further contributes to their personal
development and successful socialization [7, 8,10]. Scientific research shows that the inclusion
of special methods aimed at developing willpower significantly increases the level of formation
of volitional qualities in students. It is important to take into account the age characteristics of
high school students, their psychological and physiological capabilities, as well as pedagogical
conditions that create a favorable environment for the development of willpower [9, 11]. This
article examines the theoretical foundations for the development of volitional qualities, methods

and technologies for their formation, as well as practical recommendations for the inclusion of
the volitional component in the system of physical education of high school students.
Literature review. Research on the development of volitional qualities in schoolchildren is
widely covered in the works of domestic and foreign scientists. The works of L.S. Vygotsky,
A.N. Leontiev and P.K. Anokhin examine the psychological mechanisms of volitional regulation
of behavior, the importance of motivation and activity in the development of will.
D. Yu. Turdimuradov analyzes the influence of physical activity on the development of
volitional qualities in adolescents, emphasizing that sports contribute to the development of
perseverance, discipline and the ability to overcome difficulties. His studies also examine the
development of volitional qualities in the educational process, including methods of pedagogical
influence on the personal development of students [12, 13, 14].
Foreign studies, such as the works of D. Goleman and E. Deci, focus on the role of emotional
intelligence and internal motivation in the development of will. Also, the works of K. Duque
examine the psychological aspects of the development of perseverance and self-control through
physical activity. Thus, the analysis of literature shows that physical education is an effective
means of developing volitional qualities, and the inclusion of special methods contributes to a
more targeted formation of determination, perseverance and self-control in high school
students.Materials and methods. The study was conducted on the basis of secondary
comprehensive schools in the city of Termez, Surkhandarya region, where the influence of
various physical education methods on the development of volitional qualities in high school
students was studied. The study involved 114 students in grades 10-11 (60 boys and 54
girls). The following methods were used to achieve the objectives of the study:
1. Analysis of scientific literature - study of theoretical and methodological aspects of the
formation of volitional qualities.
2. Questionnaires and testing - identifying the level of development of volitional qualities in high
school students at the initial and final stages of the study.
3. Pedagogical experiment - included the use of various physical education methods aimed at
developing purposefulness, perseverance, self-control and determination.
4. Methods of mathematical statistics - processing the obtained data using the SPSS program,
analysis of the significance of changes in the level of development of volitional qualities. The
study was conducted in three stages:
a) The ascertaining stage - diagnostics of the initial level of volitional qualities in high school
students.
b) The formative stage - implementation of physical education programs, including:
- exercises to overcome difficulties (strength, endurance training);
- competitive method (participation in sports games and competitions);
- self-monitoring method (keeping training diaries);
- gaming technologies (team and role-playing games).
c) The control stage - re-testing and analysis of the effectiveness of the methods used.
Results. The results of the study showed that the targeted inclusion of methods aimed at
developing volitional qualities has a significant impact on the personal development of high

school students. After the implementation of the formative stage, statistically significant
improvements in key volitional indicators were identified.
A comparative analysis of the data from the ascertaining and control stages revealed the
following positive changes:
- Purposefulness - the average indicator increased by 18%, which indicates an increased ability
of students to set and achieve goals.
- Perseverance - an increase of 22%, reflecting an increased ability to overcome difficulties and
maintain motivation.
- Self-control - an improvement of 19%, confirming the development of control over emotions
and stress resistance.
- Decisiveness - an increase of 15%, which indicates an increase in confidence in decision-
making in difficult situations. Analyzing the impact of individual methods on the development of
volitional qualities, the following results were obtained:
- The method of overcoming difficulties (using high-load exercises) turned out to be the most
effective in increasing persistence (an increase of 25%).
- The competitive method (participation in sports games and competitions) contributed to the
growth of determination (an increase of 20%).
- Methods of self-control and self-regulation (keeping training diaries, setting personal goals)
turned out to be especially effective in developing determination (an increase of 22%).
- Game technologies (team and role-playing games) significantly improved self-control
indicators (an increase of 21%).
Conclusion. The conducted study confirmed the high efficiency of physical education in
developing volitional qualities in high school students. Data analysis showed that the use of
specially developed methods, including exercises to overcome difficulties, a competitive method,
methods of self-control and self-regulation, as well as game technologies, contributes to the
formation of such important qualities as determination, persistence, self-control and
determination.
The results of the study demonstrate that students who are systematically involved in physical
activity significantly increase the level of their volitional qualities, which, in turn, has a positive
effect on their academic performance, self-organization and ability to cope with life's difficulties.
It was revealed that the most significant development of volitional qualities occurs with the
integrated use of various methods aimed at the personal development of adolescents.
Based on the data obtained, it is possible to recommend that educational institutions include
methods aimed at developing volitional qualities in physical education curricula. This will not
only improve the physical fitness of students, but also develop important personal characteristics
necessary for successful adaptation in society and achieving life goals.
