Abstract

This article analyzes the ideological suppression of religious beliefs and rituals in Uzbekistan during the Soviet period, the restrictions imposed on religious institutions, and their impact on the national consciousness and spiritual life of the Uzbek people. It examines the prohibition of rituals such as circumcision, marriage and funeral ceremonies, the suppression of religious holidays, and the elimination of religious education, which led to the emergence of “ideological duality,” religious illiteracy, and the weakening of identity. The study demonstrates that the Soviet ideological campaigns against religious and spiritual values resulted in long-term socio-cultural consequences.
