Abstract. Aphorisms are concise, expressive statements that encapsulate profound ideas,
wisdom, or principles. Those with the meaning of “call” and “appeal” are particularly powerful,
as they motivate action, inspire individuals, or deliver moral lessons. In both English and Uzbek
cultures, such aphorisms play a crucial role in shaping public opinion, conveying societal values,
and fostering unity.
This article presents a comparative analysis of aphorisms with call and appeal meanings
in English and Uzbek, exploring their cultural underpinnings, linguistic features, and thematic
focuses. The study also highlights similarities and differences, demonstrating how each language
reflects its unique worldview through aphorisms.

СРАВНИТЕЛЬНЫЙ АНАЛИЗ АФОРИЗМОВ СО ЗНАЧЕНИЕМ ПРИЗЫВА И
ОБРАЩЕНИЯ В АНГЛИЙСКОМ И УЗБЕКСКОМ ЯЗЫКАХ
Аннотация. Афоризмы — это краткие, выразительные высказывания, которые
заключают в себе глубокие идеи, мудрость или принципы. Афоризмы со значением «призыв»
и «обращение» особенно сильны, поскольку они мотивируют действия, вдохновляют людей
или преподают моральные уроки. Как в английской, так и в узбекской культурах такие
афоризмы играют решающую роль в формировании общественного мнения, передаче
общественных ценностей и укреплении единства.
В этой статье представлен сравнительный анализ афоризмов со значением призыва
и обращения в английском и узбекском языках, исследующий их культурные основы,
языковые особенности и тематические фокусы. Исследование также подчеркивает
сходства и различия, демонстрируя, как каждый язык отражает свое уникальное
мировоззрение через афоризмы.

The Role of Aphorisms in English and Uzbek Cultures
Aphorisms are a reflection of the cultural, historical, and moral fabric of a society.

In English, they often emphasize individualism, determination, and self-reliance. For
example:

“Actions speak louder than words.”
•
“Time waits for no one.”
•
“Seize the day.”
These aphorisms encourage personal initiative, responsibility, and the value of time. And
show respect for tradition, and the importance of harmony within a community. Examples include:
•
“Elga xizmat – yuksak sharaf.” (Serving the people is a great honor.)
•
“Ish bilan ish bitadi.” (Work is accomplished through effort.)
•
“Vatan uchun o‘lgan – abadiy yashar.” (One who dies for the homeland lives
forever.)
These aphorisms convey a sense of duty, patriotism, and communal responsibility, deeply
rooted in Uzbek culture and history.
Themes of Call and Appeal in English Aphorisms
