INTRODUCTION

Since gaining independence, the Republic of Uzbekistan has experienced significant

advancements in all areas. We can observe remarkable progress in political, social, and physical

aspects, along with a renewal of universal values. Human needs, demands, and interests have

been prioritized, particularly in fostering the moral, ethical, and physical capabilities of the

younger generation. The formation of a healthy lifestyle in society, strengthening public health,

nurturing physically strong and morally enriched youth, and ensuring widespread engagement in

physical education and sports have become national priorities. In this regard, numerous decrees

and resolutions have been issued by the country’s leadership. In alignment with the National

Program for Training Specialists, implemented in our country, the development of mass sports is

of great importance in shaping the physical and moral well-being of the younger generation.

Instilling a passion for a healthy lifestyle is a crucial element of this process.

Additionally, the role of physical education teachers, sports specialists, and coaches is

paramount.

Their deep knowledge, high-level expertise, rich experience, and professionalism serve as

the foundation for preparing well-rounded, intellectually and morally developed individuals. [1]

The increasing attention given by our government to physical education and sports, along

with the organization of various sports events, plays a crucial role in the development of the

sports sector. These efforts are significantly boosting the interest of adolescents and young

people in sports activities. Such favorable conditions contribute to strengthening the work of

sports clubs and expanding the involvement of teenagers and youth in various types of sports. [2]

One of the strategic objectives of independent Uzbekistan is to nurture physically healthy

and morally mature individuals capable of accomplishing all noble endeavors in the future. To

achieve these goals, we must deeply study theoretical knowledge, acquire new insights in

shaping and improving a healthy lifestyle, and utilize modern educational technologies to train

future generations as patriotic and highly skilled professionals in their respective fields. In this

pursuit, alongside providing education and upbringing, we must adopt a fresh and creative

approach to planning and effectively conducting academic activities while demonstrating

initiative in our work.

METHODOLOGY

After gaining independence, Uzbekistan has placed significant emphasis on physical

education and sports, alongside culture, education, and science. The continuous increase in state

budget allocations for this sector highlights its importance as a key area of national policy. The

unwavering government support for physical education and sports has played a crucial role in the

success of Uzbek athletes in prestigious international competitions. One of the most notable

milestones in this development was the adoption of the Law "On Physical Education and Sports"

by the IX session of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 1992. This law underwent

amendments and additions, leading to a revised version in 2015, which further contributed to the

growth and progress of the sports sector in the country.[3]

During the years of independence, Uzbekistan experienced a significant period of mass

promotion of physical education and sports. Notable initiatives include the establishment of the

Republican Fund for the Development of Children's Sports and the organization of large-scale

competitions such as Universiada for university students (since 2000), Barkamol Avlod for

vocational college students, and Umid Nihollari for general school students. The primary goal of

these three-stage sports tournaments is to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people and to

prepare candidates for the national team in international competitions.[4]

In September 1993, during the 101st session of the International Olympic Committee

(IOC), the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan was fully recognized.

The committee has since contributed to the development of international sports and the

Olympic movement. Its main responsibilities include promoting Olympic ideals in Uzbekistan,

ensuring the participation of national athletes in the Olympic Games, and fostering friendly

relations with athletes worldwide. In January 1996, in recognition of his contributions to the

development of global sports and his dedication to Olympic values, Uzbekistan’s First President,

I. Karimov, was awarded the Olympic Gold Order by the IOC.

Extensive efforts have been undertaken to promote a healthy lifestyle in society, create

modern conditions for physical education and mass sports—especially for the younger

generation—and organize sports competitions to instill confidence, resilience, patriotism, and

devotion to the homeland among youth. Additionally, systematic measures have been

implemented to identify and train talented athletes, further advancing physical education and

mass sports in the country.[5]

LITERATURE REVIEW

The outstanding achievements of Uzbek athletes in the Olympic Games, World

Championships, Asian Games, and other international competitions have significantly enhanced

Uzbekistan’s reputation and sports potential on the global stage. The construction of world-class

sports facilities across the country, along with the growing popularity of the three-stage sports

tournaments - "Umid Nihollari", "Barkamol Avlod", and Universiade—among students and

young athletes, is particularly noteworthy. Moreover, across all regions of Uzbekistan, extensive

efforts are being made to promote the importance of mass sports in individual and family life.

These initiatives emphasize physical and mental well-being, discourage harmful habits

among the youth, and create favorable conditions for them to realize their potential.

Additionally, crucial tasks remain in refining the system for identifying talented athletes,

nurturing their skills, and providing targeted training to prepare them for high-level competition.

The goal of physical education and sports training is to develop students' and learners'

physical fitness and to instill the principles of a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, physical

education, sports, and wellness activities play a significant role in facilitating the effective

acquisition of specialized training and skills. [6]

In recent years, systematic measures have been implemented in the country to promote

physical education and sports, encourage a healthy lifestyle among the population, create

necessary conditions for the physical rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, and ensure

the nation's worthy participation in international sports arenas.

Additionally, there is a need to introduce specific programs aimed at improving public

health through physical education and sports, engage more young people in sports, identify

talented athletes, form national teams with skilled athletes who can achieve high results in

various sports, and create additional opportunities for coaches.

[7]

CONCLUSION

Comprehensive efforts are being made to promote a healthy lifestyle among the

population, especially among the younger generation, by creating modern conditions for regular

physical education and mass sports activities. Through sports competitions, young people are

encouraged to develop strong willpower, confidence in their strength and abilities, bravery,

patriotism, and loyalty to their homeland. Additionally, systematic measures are being

implemented to identify talented athletes, properly organize their selection, and further develop

physical education and mass sports. Efforts are also being made to engage young people in

meaningful leisure activities, protect and strengthen their health by involving them in various

sports, and integrate mass sports into the social environment to improve public health. Raising

awareness among the younger generation about the harmony between a healthy lifestyle, medical

culture, and sports, and instilling these values in their mindset, remains a crucial task in today's

society.
