Abstract:
The purpose of this scientific article is to study the significance and
methodology of preparing schoolchildren of Uzbekistan for international studies PISA
(Programme for International Student Assessment) and PIRLS (Progress in International
Reading Literacy Study). The article analyzes the role of PISA and PIRLS studies in
assessing students' knowledge and skills, as well as the low results of Uzbek
schoolchildren in these studies. It emphasizes the need to modernize curricula, improve
teacher training, and apply modern pedagogical approaches to improve student readiness.
Key words:
PISA, PIRLS, education system, reading literacy, scientific literacy,
pedagogical approaches, critical thinking, improving the quality of education,
