Zulfiya Isroilova, the beloved poetess of the Uzbek
people, journalist, translator, and prominent
public figure, was born on March 1, 1915, in the
Oqchi neighborhood of Tashkent, into a family of
artisan workers. It is not surprising that her love
for poetry, words, and literature arose in her as a
child due to the environment in her family. In
particular, her mother Khadichabegym played a

great role in this. Zulfiyakhanim writes in her

autobiography: “We could not be

lieve how many

songs and legends my mother knew. These
magical legends and epics gave us immense joy,
captivated us, and each time they took on a new
meaning. If she had lived in such a bright era as
today, my mother would have been either a poet
or a scientist. I am sure that it was my mother,

a love for words that can create miracles, open up

SPRING CAME TO ASK YOU

In the cool mornings, in the almond blossom

On the purple lips, in the lands,

The flight of birds, the gentle breeze,

In velvet valleys, in the mountains…

How much you loved spring, my dear,

You were the charm of apricot flowers.

As if every awakened bud gave life

You rubbed it into your eyes and kissed it.

Here, my precious one, spring has come again,

It has searched for you, it has wandered.

It has caught you by the edge of winter and asked
you,

It has also shed tears and retreated.

While searching for you, it has become a sabbath,

It has gone out in search of the gardens where you
have walked.

It has gone out in search of beauty,

It has gone out in search of green shores to write
about.

Unable to find it, its patience has run out, a storm
has broken out,

And it has carried its head to the cliffs.

Farhad searched for your tree in the mountains,

He knocked the mountain stone down into the
valleys.

He asked the shepherds who were the first to go
to the fields,

Where is the poet, he asked.

Seeing silence and sadness everywhere,

He came exhausted, his patience was exhausted...

Then he entered my bed, shining,

He kissed the cheeks of Hulkar and Aman,

And the triumph that had soaked into my cheeks,

He slowly told me about himself.

But not finding you in my bed,

He remained staring at one point for a long time.

Again the wind blew and he wandered,

He asked me, seeking my heart:

"When I came, you greeted me with a smile,

A river with its song flowing in waves,

"Are you happy, asking me alone?"

He surrounded me with poetry and looked after
me?

Why doesn't it bloom in apricot blossoms,

Let its hair flutter and curl in the air?

Why doesn't the leader of the joyous song I
brought

come out and write?

How full of love would it be in the morning,

It would perfect my vast imagination.

In its colorful, charming song

I would always see my own beauty.Where is that
singer, the dreamy young man?

Why are there tears in your eyes, you are standing
there, lol?

Why are you dressed in black, your hair is white,

Why are you so distraught in this dress?»

How can I answer, my tongue is speechless,

I have tried everything, I have come to you.

He also wandered with your sorrow in the
evening,

I cannot stand to look at your gravestone.

He moved to a tree,

The sorrowful one woke up the bud and killed it.

Unstable with your memory,

The flowers have reached their buds one by one.

The fragrance of the blooming basil has spread

A gentle song has covered the sky

This song is so sweet, so close,

How life-giving, full of fire.

In the land that is covered with spring, you love

Your voice has sounded passionate, resounding.

You are not dead, my soul, you are life,

I have not breathed without you yet.

The migration is in my heart, the melody is in my
hand,

I sing life, I can retreat.

You are in my dreams at night, I remember you
during the day,

I am life, you are life too!
