Abstract

This thesis analyzes innovative methods for teaching English to primary school students based on modern knowledge. In particular, it explores techniques for developing students' logical thinking, improving fluent speech, enhancing the ability to respond quickly and accurately, and increasing their interest in learning. The thesis examines how to thoroughly prepare for future lessons and the possibilities of using games, computer technologies, exercises, puzzles, and sentences based on images in the teaching process. In recent years, learning foreign languages, especially English, has become an integral part of the education system. Therefore, this article focuses on the challenges of teaching English to primary school students and explores potential solutions.

INTRODUCTION

Teaching English, recognized as the official language worldwide, is a complex process. In

fact, learning any language comes with its own unique characteristics. English has ancient roots

and has evolved into various forms over time. It developed from proto-language forms and was

later shaped under the influence of Latin and Germanic cultures, adapting into modern English.

Nevertheless, teaching this language remains challenging, especially when it comes to

effective instruction. The academic progress and future achievements of children depend on their

family environment, community support, and the quality of school education.

LITERATURE REVIEW AND METHODOLOGY

Nowadays, the English language is widely taught around the world. While understanding

the formation of the alphabet and words is important in the learning process, there are even more

crucial aspects to consider. Children must be able to pronounce words and understand their

meanings before

learning to write them.

English language instruction is traditionally based on

teaching the alphabet, words, and grammatical rules.

However, many students find learning rules boring, which causes them to lose interest in

the language. Therefore, although it is impossible to abandon fundamental teaching methods, it is

necessary to modernize traditional approaches. Traditional methods often prove less effective than

innovative techniques when teaching advanced students who already understand the language's

basics. Research has shown that incorporating game-based learning is one of the most effective

teaching strategies. Through games, students enhance their thinking abilities, expand their

worldview, and improve their knowledge.

According to scientists, an educational approach based on games facilitates the learning

process, making it not only easier but also more engaging, ultimately motivating children to

acquire deeper knowledge. Game-based lessons help develop children's speaking skills. For

primary school students, using visual materials such as pictures or videos is highly effective. Some

students struggle with recognizing the graphic representation of words, while others find it difficult

to comprehend their phonetic forms.

Computer-based exercises can help address these challenges, allowing students to identify

and strengthen the areas of English they find most difficult. Starting from the second grade,

educational games designed to teach grammar can be introduced. For example, games such as

"Who is literate?", "Who is smart?", "Who am I?", "Chain", "Role-playing game", and "Find the

word's place" help reinforce students' knowledge.

Additionally, the game "Am I the best?" proves effective in improving spelling skills. In

this game, 5–6 words are written on cards, with some spelled correctly and others incorrectly.

Students must identify the misspelled words and rewrite them correctly.

DISCUSSION

A child is naturally curious and ambitious, using their environment to explore all their

emotions. Since play is their primary and favorite activity, if the learning process is organized in

the form of a game, the effectiveness of acquiring knowledge and skills increases several times.

Play not only enhances a child’s physical activity but also contributes to their psychological

development, strengthens self-confidence, and helps establish social relationships.

Children learn

and discover their talents through play. Therefore, it is recommended to create an environment

that activates their sensory perception, incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning

methods.

As Masaru Ibuka mentioned in his book "Too Late by Three", a child’s brain can absorb

an infinite amount of information, but it should not be memorized mechanically.

For this reason, when teaching a foreign language to primary school students, it is important

to use engaging and interactive methods rather than starting with grammatical concepts.

CONCLUSION

Languages are an essential part of our lives, allowing us to express emotions, share ideas,

and interact with others. They are a fundamental tool for defining our identity, making it crucial

to learn and use them accurately. Without language, human communication would be

indistinguishable from that of animals, emphasizing the importance of effective language learning

methods in human development.

As English is widely regarded as the global language, it should be taught in a way that

extends beyond just speaking, writing, and listening. The focus should be on fostering meaningful

communication, which is the true purpose of language. To achieve this, it is important to

implement innovative teaching

skills.
