правила поведения переводчика, в частности устного переводчика. В
настоящее время этика переводчика предполагает не только знание правил
делового этикета, но и владение соответствующим комплексом
технических средств.

Abstract.
This article examined the ethical norms and rules of conduct for an
interpreter, in particular for an interpreter. Currently, the ethics of a translator
presupposes not only knowledge of the rules of business etiquette, but also
possession of the appropriate set of technical means.

In the professional ethics of a translator, the core values are accuracy,
impartiality and confidentiality. The translator must adhere to the principles of
professional responsibility, respect for cultural differences and constantly
improve his skills. Ethical dilemmas may arise in the work of a translator,
requiring difficult decisions to be made. To maintain high standards of ethics,
there are codes of conduct and standards that a translator must follow.
Professional development and self-improvement are an integral part of being a
translator in order to be ethical and successful in their profession.
Representatives of any profession have their own norms and rules of
behavior; with the help of these norms and rules, the profession asserts its place
in society, and society, for its part, influences the ethics of the profession.
Compliance with ethical standards in a translation situation significantly
affects the result. A translator, regardless of the translation profile, must be a well-
mannered person and have the ability to behave with dignity in any situation.
Russian translation expert V.N. Komissarov identifies the moral and ethical

component as an obligatory part of the professional competence of a translator.
The ability to hold on and keep a secret, composure, modesty, tact, and avoidance
of a frivolous attitude to the matter are mandatory elements of a translator
’

professional behavior.
The professional ethics of a translator are a set of principles, values and
norms of behavior that govern the professional activities of a translator and
determine his responsibility to clients, colleagues and society as a whole.
Today, the word “ethics” is used to express a person’
s attitude to his
professional responsibilities, as well as to designate the norms governing
relationships between people in working conditions. Russian philologist
D.N.
Ushakov considers ethics as “norms of behavior, morality, a set of moral rules
among members of a society or profession,” for example, medical ethics,
journalistic ethics, translation ethics.
As part of interpreting, the director of the St. Petersburg Higher School of
Translation, I.S. Alekseeva, formulates general rules of translator ethics, among
which the following are worth mentioning:
➢
the translator has no right to change the meaning of the text;
➢
the translator should not participate in scandals and translate curses
exchanged between interlocutors. He must translate the main content of the
remarks, using the literary norm of the language, and briefly comment on the
curses: “Mr. N used harsh abusive expressions”;
➢
the translator has no right to interfere in the relations of the parties, as
well as to reveal his own position regarding the content of the translated text.
The main goal of translator professional ethics is to ensure a high level of
professionalism and reliability in translation activities, as well as to protect the
interests of all parties involved in the translation process.
The professional ethics of a translator includes the following basic principles:

The translator must maintain confidentiality and not disclose information
obtained in the process of work without the client

Precision and quality
The translator must strive for maximum accuracy and quality of translation,
following professional standards and client requirements.

Independence and objectivity
The translator must be independent and objective in his work, without
allowing personal bias or interference in the content of the translation.
❖
Professional Development
A translator must constantly improve his skills and knowledge, follow new
trends in the field of translation and strive for professional growth.
Compliance with ethical principles and standards in the professional
activities of a translator is an integral part of his professionalism and contributes
to the establishment of trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.

In modern conditions, a professional translator, in addition to the most
difficult intellectual task, bears a great moral responsibility, since distortions in
translation can have serious consequences: political conflicts, moral damage.
In this regard, one of the rules of ethics formulated by the translator
E.V. Alikina should be mentioned
–
if the translator notices a mistake he has made,
he must try to find a way to correct it immediately; if others point out an error,
then you should apologize and accept the amendment without entering into a
discussion.
Principles of ethical standards for translators:

Confidentiality:
the translator must maintain confidentiality and not
disclose information obtained in the course of his work without the consent of the
client or employer.
2.
Independence:
the translator must maintain his independence and not be
influenced by outside interests that may conflict with his professional duties.
3.
Accuracy and Precision:
A translator must strive for maximum accuracy
and precision in his work in order to provide the client with the best possible
translation.
4.
Professionalism:
A translator must demonstrate professionalism in all
aspects of their work, including their communication with clients, meeting
deadlines, and respecting professional standards.
