The author introduces the primary focus of the article, which is an exploration of commonly used materials in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes, specifically reading texts, films and videos, and computer programs. The article aims to present a comprehensive list of advantages and disadvantages associated with the use of authentic texts and materials in the classroom and the significance of incorporating authentic texts into the classroom setting and highlights that these materials serve multiple functions.
Teaching is aimed to allow the language learners to practice developing skills. In our case it is vocabulary development. In incidental learning, the situations are chosen by language learners. This means that the language learners initiate the interaction by requesting the participation of a teacher. Most often, incidental learning is used in the study of foreign languages, and is considered here in this context. The learner’s request can be verbal or non-verbal: for example, he can reach for an object that is out of reach, damage his clothes, cry, call an a teacher by name, ask for a toy, food or information. This study demonstrated the effectiveness of the incidental learning approach.
The problems of learning foreign language material, including hearing and speaking, are discussed in this article, as well as the desires, objectives, and role of actual video, which involves the development of integrated talents. The research also provides the criteria for selecting curriculum-relevant video. Authentic videos, on the other hand, have a bigger impact as the language skills of higher-level learners grow.
Vocabulary teaching and learning has always been a challenging endeavor for both language teachers and learners, because every language learner must master a significant number of words in order to communicate effectively in the target language. Teachers and academics are seeking for innovative vocabulary learning methodologies that will not only make it easier to teach vocabulary but will also improve language learners' vocabulary understanding. Audio-visual elements appear to be effective in second/foreign language classes as an accidental vocabulary acquisition technique
