KARL MARX AND THE THOUGHTS OF CLASS THEORY ON SPORTS CULTURE

One of the thinkers who made a significant contribution to the world of thought at that time was Karl Marx, who had a view of the economic and social world based on a dialectical materialist interpretation of history. Marx, who embodies the traces of the Age of Enlightenment; Under the influence of different views of his time, he created a unique system of thought. One of the important contributions of Marx, who made many contributions in both the social and economic fields, is the theory of classes. The issue of social stratification; It has been studied and commented on by many sociologists such as Marx, Engels, Weber and Durkheim. The different reflection of social stratification in social life makes it possible to see its influence in different areas every day. One such consideration is sports. Sport appeals to a wide audience as it affects every corner of social life, both amateur and professional; It is included in the laws of not only individuals, but also states and is used as a political tool at the international level. In this study; Historical materialism, infrastructure-superstructure relations, production relations, alienation and class concepts, which have an important place in Marx's intellectual system, are tried to be considered under separate headings, and their reflection and influence on the sports event is considered in the light. the concepts of social stratification and social class are evaluated using a literature review model. At the end of; The concept of stratification, described as a hierarchical arrangement of differences; Factors such as income level, social environment, culture and physical environment and their influence on sports activities were determined. Sport, which is an indispensable social aspect of our time, is also greatly influenced by these concepts. People have different industries depending on their income level and cultural pressures can limit their interest in sports or limit them to certain industries. Moreover, the physical environment and the natural conditions of the place of residence also affect the choice of sports and sports networks.
