1 INTRODUCTION

Modern social psychology pays more and more

attention to strategies of behavior in conflict,
stressful, anxiety-inducing situations. Firstly, this is
due to the fact that a person is inseparably connected
with social conditions; practically everyone faces
crises and develops a certain strategy to overcome it.
Interest in such strategies is relatively recent. Despite
this, a scientific approach to coping strategies has
already been formed [6].

Throughout life, every person faces situations that

are subjectively experienced as difficult and
disruptive to the usual course of life. Experiencing
such situations often changes a person's perception of
the surrounding world and his or her place in it [4].
Individual behavior aimed at overcoming life
difficulties is studied in the framework of coping
behaviour in foreign psychology (Lazarus R.,
Folkman S., Frydenberg E., Hobfall S., Endler N.)
and coping behaviour in Russian psychology
(Antsiferova L.I., Bodrov V.A., Kryukova T.L., Libin
A.A., Nikolskaya I.M.)[7].

Regardless of what worldview position a person

takes, the theist or atheist position, God - religion, as
a cultural and psychological phenomenon, occupies a
certain place in his life. The fact is that for tens, or
maybe hundreds of thousands of years, religion has

had an enormous influence on the phylogeny of
humankind and the ontogeny of an individual. This
state of affairs is common in the history of formation
of all peoples and cultures [3].

Therefore, despite the global changes in the

consciousness of people for the last, even if it is a
hundred years, this phenomenon can hardly be
considered a dying out socio-psychological rudiment
[5]. After all, religion, in addition to social, economic
and political reasons, has deep psychological roots. In
this regard, religiosity as an integral phenomenon of
the internal and external world of a person requires a
detailed study in order to determine the objective
influence on individual characteristics and
personality development.

Religious coping - turning to religion when

experiencing life difficulties and seeking social
support in a group of believers. This type of coping
includes internal (with the help of one's own system
of values, beliefs, intentions and actions), horizontal
(based on the connection between people due to their
common identity in the community of fellow
believers) and vertical (carried out due to the
relationship between a person and the Creator) coping
[1]. Religious coping is an adaptive variant in the
cognitive sphere (engages forms of thinking aimed at
evaluating difficulties in comparison with other life
events) [2].

2 MATERIALS AND METHODS

Students of the Tashkent Medical Academy and

the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan
were chosen as respondents for studying this issue.
The experiment was conducted in the following
stages:

- INTERVIEW
Students were interviewed to find out how to cope

with stress;

- OBSERVATION
Coping strategies of students in the learning

process were observed;

- TEST
G. Eysenck's questionnaire "Diagnostic of the

assessment of mental states";

"Coping strategy indicator" by D. Amirkhan;
C. Carver, M. Shaver and J. Weintraub "Stress

management research".

- DISCUSSION
A questionnaire on religious factors that can be

used as a coping strategy for stress.

The method of mathematical statistics (Pearson's

criterion) was used to determine the validity and
reliability of the empirical materials obtained in the
study.

It is appropriate to interpret the correlation results

in accordance with the empirical results of the
subjects of the TMA education study. In the subjects,
the increase of "Anxiety" in a person in terms of
mental state is a clear reflection of "Frustration"
(r=0.790, p<0.01), increased aggression (r=0.452,
p<0.05), increased rigidity effect (r=0.717, p<0.01).
These conditions show that anxiety does increase the
negative value of a person's mental state. As a result,
it is difficult for a person to realise his needs, it is
difficult for him to organise his activities, to focus on
specific goals and objects, to make a decision, to
change his opinion.

Increased frustration in the subjects also led to an

increase in rigidity (p = 0.729, p < 0.01). Frustration
leaves individuals helpless to realise their potential.
As a result, they become distracted and unable to
focus on their work. Thoughts harden and are difficult
to change.

Another high coefficient of correlation analysis

between the analyzed mental states was observed
between "Aggressiveness" and "Rigidity". Increased
"Aggressiveness" leads to increased personality
rigidity (r = 0.429, p < 0.05). Therefore, in our
individuals, the original item "If you get angry, you
will go crazy" is reflected in the results of our
research.

According to the correlation analysis of mental

states, the formation of high negative tones in all of
them ensures the strengthening of negative states in
other mental states.

According to the empirical results of educational

research topics of the International Islamic Academy
of Uzbekistan, the results of correlation can be
appropriately interpreted as follows. In the subjects,
the increase in the "perturbation" of personality
according to the indicators of mental state is a clear
reflection of "frustration" (r=0.496, p<0.01),
increased

aggressiveness

(r=0.358,

p<0.05),

increased effect of rigidity (r=0.636, p<0.01). It turns
out that anxiety can actually increase the negative
effect of a person's mental state. As a result, it is
difficult for a person to realise his needs, it is difficult
for him to organise his activity, to focus on specific
goals and objects, to make a decision, to change his
opinion.

Increased frustration in the subjects led to a

significant increase in aggression (r=0.554, p<0.01)
and rigidity (r=0.634, p<0.01). Frustration leaves
individuals helpless to realise their potential. As a
result, they become distracted and unable to focus on
their work. Thoughts harden and are difficult to
change.

Another high coefficient of correlation analysis

between the analyzed mental states was observed
between "Aggressiveness" and "Rigidity". Increased
"Aggressiveness" leads to increased personality
rigidity (r=0.522, p<0.05). Aggression can cause a
person to lose control over his/her emotions.

According to the correlation analysis of mental

states, the formation of high negative tones in all of
them provides strengthening of negative states in the
rest of mental states.

It is appropriate to interpret the correlation results in

accordance with the empirical results of the subjects of the

TMA education study. According to the subjects' coping

strategies, an increase in the number of "problem solving"

in the individual leads to an increase in "seeking social

help" (r=0.541, p<0.05). In problem solving, an individual

relies on society and expects help from it. There are many

factors that can contribute to social support.

According to empirical results of educational

research topics of the International Islamic Academy
of Uzbekistan, it is appropriate to interpret the results
of correlation as follows. According to the tested
coping-strategies, the increase in the number of
"problem solving" in an individual was more

pronounced in "seeking social help" (r=0.640,
p<0.01). In problem solving, an individual relies on
society and expects help from it. There are many
factors that can contribute to social support.

CONCLUSIONS

it was found during our study that the factor of

religion has a significant impact on the realization of
coping strategies. At the same time, the following
situation is observed in the interuniversity
classification. Although the level of religious
attraction of students of Tashkent Medical Academy
did not give significant results, it was noticed that
students of the International Islamic Academy of
Uzbekistan are oriented towards a positive approach
to coping with stress.

Analysis of the results of the inter-university

study showed that students of the Tashkent Medical
Academy resort to various sedatives to cope with
stress. When analysing the results of the study of
students of the International Islamic Academy of
Uzbekistan, it is impossible to calculate it because no
one chose questions of such a scale.

Empirical research has shown that people prone to

stress more often resort to social factors when
implementing coping strategies. It turned out that the
more they solve a problem, the more they seek social
help.

The fact that religious students have a higher

choice of religion in coping with stress than other
university students was further proven. That is,
Religious Studies students had a higher level of
religious affiliation in coping with stress because of
their higher level of religious education.
