The article deals with the problem of motivation: creating sustainable interest towards foreign language learning at medical institute students through positioning the foreign language as a means of communication and learning about the world. In particular, motivation plays a key role in students learning new foreign words, with instrumental and linguo-cultural motivation as the primary driving force for successful vocabulary acquisition.
Motivation in teaching is one of the foundations of successful mastery of the subject. In this
article, the author examines the approaches of domestic and foreign specialists in the field of psychological
and pedagogical aspects of teaching foreign languages. Motivation to study English in educational
establishments is defined as a transitional concept, that is, it depends on both the students themselves and the
teacher. The paper focuses on ways to form and maintain students' interest in the English language. The
author pays attention to both the psychological features of the teacher's work with students, as well as types
of tasks that contribute to increasing the motivation of students

This scientific article explores the role of the sociocultural component of education in enhancing motivation for learning foreign languages, with a particular focus on learners for whom English is a second language. Drawing upon Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory and various empirical studies, this article demonstrates how the integration of sociocultural elements into language instruction can significantly increase students’ motivation, engagement, and proficiency in second language acquisition. Several examples and practical recommendations are provided to illustrate the potential of this approach in real educational settings.
