The article highlights the problems of increasing the efficiency and expanding the possibilities of forensic activities based on the use of modern digital technologies. The digital technologies used in modern expert practice are considered. It is noted that the introduction of modern technologies into expert practice occurs in two ways: the creative use of the achievements of mathematical, technical and natural sciences and the adaptation of existing digital technologies and information systems for the needs of forensic activities.The main attention is paid to promising areas of expert activity digitalization, which include the creation of a common specialized information and communication network of expert institutions, the development of the latest forensic examination methods necessary to combat criminal manifestations on the Internet, the use of artificial intelligence systems, including robotics. The author notes the problems associated with the digitalization of forensic expertise:
procedural restrictions, the rapid development of digital technologies and the backlog of data analysis tools, the need for further development of expert methods and ensuring the information security of forensic activities, improving the training of forensic experts.
