"Good faith" restoration: causes, examples and consequences
The author of this paper proposes his own views on the issues concerning the storage of manuscript documents. After long investigations he reveals certain “threats” to manuscripts, documents, especially notes some thoughts on the phrase “done with good purpose”. Here the author underlines such problems such as the reasons and results of this so-called “well-meaning repairs” restoration and also gives his suggestions on how to obey the rules of restoration of the documents in this article.
Three personal seals of the Kokan ruler Omar Khan (1810–1822).
Three personal seals (muhr) of Umar-Khan are described in this article. There are imprints of all these three seals in the manuscripts from the COMTSIOS fund. All of three seals have the same legend in the centre – Amir al-Muslimin Sayyid Muhammad Umar ibn Narbuta-khan. One of the seals does not have a date. Dates are available in other two seals – 1226/1811-12 and 1231/1815-16. These dates can help determining the historical data connected with the activity of Umar-khan.
New information about the scientific heritage of Khoja Muhammad Porso
This article describes introductory information about a number of new texts written by Khwaja Muhammad Parsa, who had proved and supported Naqshbandi teachings with his scholarly works.
About the work "History of Muhyi Khoqandi"
"Tarih-i Muhyi Khukandi" ("History of Muhyi Khukandi") is a historical work written in Persian by Muhyi Khukandi (1836–1911). The only handwritten copy of the autograph of this work has been preserved at the Center of Eastern manuscripts at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental studies named after Abu Rayhan Bеruni (under the inventory №604). This article illustrates the history of the study of "Tarih-i Muhyi Khukandi", a description of the manuscript, structure of the work and its analysis. In addition, it also shows the significance of this work in the study of Central Asian history.
New information on Hossein Voiz Koshifi's activities
This article is devoted to the studies of the life and works of famous scholar Kamal ad-din Huseyn al-Voiz al-Kashifi as-Sabzawari al-Hirawi, who lived at the same Century with Alisher Navai. On the base of scientific argumentation here is analyzed certain data related to his date of birth and his works. The author also enters scientific novelties concerning these aforementioned issues
Ogahi translation of the work of Mahmud G'ijduvani "Miftah ut-Talibin".
Ogahiy is well-known as a translator who has a solid role in the history of our homeland. In this article, we draw our attention to the translations of the work “Miftoh ut-Tolibin” which was done by Ogahiy. The main topic of this translated work is about Husayn Khorazmiy and his life and activities. Besides, in this book one can meet valuable information about XVI century life period of Central Asia, especially the history of Bukhara, Samarkand, Khorazm where Husayn Khorazmi had lived and worked.
From the history of acquisition and scientific description of the archive fund “Chancery of Khan of Khiva”
In this article by using archive materials and scientific publications it is analyzed the history of the formation, theory, and practice of the description of the archival fund “The Chancellery of the Khiva Khanate” (f. I-125).
Scientific and spiritual heritage of Mahdumi Azam Kosani-Dahbedi
Sayyid Ahmad ibn Jalal ad-Din Kwajagi Kasani-Dahbedi (868/1461–949/1542) was a brilliant scholar and great thinker of Mawarannahr. He has been mentioned in manuscripts as a Makhdum-i A`zam Kasani, Makhdum-i A`zam Dahbedi, Makhdum-i A`zam Kasani-Dahbedi or shortly Makhdum-I A`zam. This article is devoted to the study of scientific-spiritual heritage of the afore-mentioned outstanding scholar on the base of the first sources, stored at the Manuscripts Fund of the Center for Oriental Manuscripts named after Abu Rayhan Beruni under the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies.

In given article it is analyzed the first prosaic statements of "Khamsa" of Alisher Navai and important features of the period which are transferred during that time.
Comparative analysis of the works "Sharh at-ta'arruf" and "Tazkirat ul-Avliya"
In this article there is an attempt to determine a place of this work among other works of the author through comparison of such ones as “Tadzkirat al-Auliya” and “Sharh al-Ta‘arruf”. And, in order to determine the significance of this work “Sharh al-Ta‘arruf” among these two others, certain samples are given from two works of the author “Kashf ul-Mahjoob” and “Al-Risala al-Qushayriyya”.
Anvari and Navoi
Although the attitude of Alisher Navai towards the representatives of Persian classical poetry of the X-XV centuries has been studied relatively well, but the issue of the relationship of Uzbek poet with the works of Anvariy Abivardi (1105–1191), Persian-speaking poet, recognized as "Prophet in qasida" by tradition hasn’t been researched yet. In this paper, with an argument of this poet’s works, his qasida dedicated to Sufi-irfani theme "Tawakkul" (trusting in the will of God) is discussed in detail compared with Navoiy’s qasida which is devoted to the same subject as an imitation of Anvari’s qasida.
Description of heavenly phenomena in the works of Alisher Navoi
In this article there is the results of the items of information on heavenly bodies and space processes taken from novels of Alisher Navai where the speech is about their sources. In the process of the further development of a science the given here items of information prove to be true.
Importance of dictionaries created in the 18th-19th centuries in the study of Navoi's works
The article studies the dictionaries created in the 18 th -19 th centuries and their importance in researching Navoi’s writings. It provides information about Muhammad Rizabek’s work such as “Muntahabul-lug’ot” and “Zubdatul-lug’ot”. In this article it is proposed the manuscripts of the above-mentioned dictionaries, being preserved at the Centre for Oriental Manuscripts named after Abu Rayhan Beruni under Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies.
Sayfi Bukhari's work "Aruzi Sayfi" is an important guide to poetry
This article researched Sayfiy Bukhari’s (died in 1503) “Aruzi Sayfiy” treatise from the viewpoint of the modern poetry. It is about the structure of the treatise, description of asls, bakhr and doiras (metric circles). Here is revealed the significance of “Aruzi Sayfiy” in the Timurids period.

Description of Central Asian philosophers in "Kashf az-zunnun" by Haji Khalifa
The book of Haji Khalifa "Kashf az-zunun" is the wrok of bio-bibliographical character, contains materials about the scientific and cultural life of Central Asia. This article, written on the basis of "Kashf az-zunun" highlights the scientific activity of some philosophers from Central Asia. The given statements from the "Kashf al-zunun" have been studied and enlightened with the usef of other sources.

Achievements of world significance in the field of mathematics and astronomy of al-Khwarizmi, Beruni and Ulugbek
In this article it is provided valuable information about remarkable achievements in the sphere of exact sciences in the works of al-Khorezmi, al-Beruni and Ulughbek most of which published by the author. Here is also emphasized that the ideas and works of the aforementioned scholars had a great impact on the development of sciences not only in the East, but also in Europe.
On the influence of the culture of Uzbekistan on ancient and medieval China
In this paper on the basis of the data in Chinese language it is well proved the influence of Uzbekistan’s culture on the Ancient and Middle Ages China with the use of concrete historical facts and figures.
Autochthonous foundations of the history of the origin of the Uzbek people
In this article, based on the analysis of archaeological, anthropological and written (ancient Chinese) sources revealed the autochthonous basis of both ethnic (and proto-Old Iranian) origin layers of the Uzbek people in the example of the archaeological sites of the Neolithic Age in Central Asia. Proto-Turkic root served with Kalaminar culture proto-European anthropological material and ancient Iranian - Jaytun Eastern Mediterranean culture with its anthropological type. Their synthesis, starting from the Bronze Age to the late antiquity, has led to the addition of "Central Asian interfluve race" - a characteristic type of modern Uzbeks and Tajiks plains.
The issue of soil science in Beruni's works
This article discusses the significance of the works of al-Beruni, one of the earliest scholars of the Middle Ages East, which is devoted to the study of the emergence of soil, its features and physical characteristics, changes in the structure of the Earth layers under various hydrographic conditions, and al-Beruni’s contribution to the development of the soil study in global scale.

The historical importance of the work "Safarnama" by Nasir Khisrav
This article is about a scholar who lived and worked in the Oriental Renaissance period Nasir Khusrav and his work “Safarnama”. “Safarnama” contains Nasir Khusrav’s seven years travel (1045-1052) to the Middle and the Near East countries. The book delivers information about nations culture, customs, languages and lifestyle.
Qazi Ikhtiyar as a scientist of the Timurid era
This article gives new information about the life and scientific activities of qadi Ixtiyar that lived at the end of the reign of the Timurds in Herat. Cadi Ixtiyar worked as a cadi and a chief of cadies. While working as a qadi, he wrote a guide ‘Mukhtar al-ixtiyar’ for qadies. In addition, the author of this article gives also the information about this work.
Abu Hafs al-Nasafi and the educational program of the Madrasah of Tabagh Khan in Samarqan (XII century)
The article is devoted to the education program of an official Madrassah which was built by the Qarakhanid ruler Ibrahim Tabgachkhan in approximately 1066 A.D. A unique work named “Matla’ an-nujum va majma’ al-ulum” written by Abu Hafs an-Nasafiy (1068-1142) has been presented as the main source for this paper. And this aforementioned work contains valuable information about the pedagogic activities of Abu Hafs an-Nasafiy. The work namely “Matla’ an-nujum” covers such works (“tutorials” or course books) concerned to various fields of science which were taught within the educational system of XI-XII Centuries of Mawarannahr.
The activity of the Center of Oriental Manuscripts is in the scope of new tasks
This article is devoted to the issues concerning the latest changes and further activities of the al-Beruni Center for Oriental Manuscripts. The author also gives information about state funded grants which are being successfully implemented by leading experts of the al-Beruni Center.
The dynamics of practical knowledge and the importance of writing in ancient Khorezm
In this article in the example of the Ancient Khorazm literary school here is considered speakers’ practical knowledge, as well as the developments of the styles and systems of writing in this region. The proposed data by the author bring to usage imporant findings on the subject of study. Due to the fat that these issues have not enough researches it is now required to anaylyze the problem of the development of practical knowledges and scientific base in Khorazm oasis in pre-Islamic period. The Presented feature of importance of the contents of the archeological sources for study of the shaping Astronomy, Geometry, Mathematics, existence of the concrete presentations with reference to the system of these sciences in Khorazm in the Ancient Period and in the Early Middle Ages. Ancient Khorazm falls into the circle of the areas where widely spread the early system of writing in Central Asia. In this paper the author tries to show the impact of the Khorazm Script (letter) to the study of the system of its statehood, socio-economic relations and non-material culture with the use of new approaches.

To whom is Jamshid Koshi's work "Zizhi Khaqani" dedicated?
This article is devoted to the study of “Jamshid Koshiy’s travel to Samarkand and the issue of the ownership of the work named “Ziji Khаkаniy” to him. Here is analyzed thoroughly the time of the inhabitance of Jamshid Koshiy in Samarkand and as well as his work “Ziji Khаqаniy”. It’s proved with scientifically-based facts that the scholar came to Samarkand in 1413 and “Ziji Khaqaniy” was not belonged to Shahrukh but it was belonged to Mirzo Ulugbeks library.

Terminology is a question of studying the scientific heritage of scholars
The article is dedicated to the subject of the study of the scientific heritage of scholars from Termez. It is known that Termez from the Middle Ages was accepted as one of the scientific centres of Mawarannahr and Khorasan. The scholars of the region worked in different directions of the fileds of sciences such as natural sciences and humanitarian sciences. As a result, they have left a great scientific heritage. In this article the authir tries to indicate objective and subjective difficulties, connected with the studyof this scientific heritage and he gives his own suggestions on how to solve them.
